Stephen King’s chilling universe returns to the big screen with “It: Welcome to Derry,” a new movie that tells the story leading up to the popular films directed by Andy Muschietti.
The director is back to helm the first four episodes of this new series, where the people of a picturesque American town are haunted by the terrifying Pennywise the Clown, once again portrayed by Bill Skarsgård.
The upcoming series, ‘Welcome to Derry,’ will connect to other stories in Stephen King’s universe. Notably, it will feature the character Dick Hallorann (played by Chris Chalk) from ‘The Shining,’ showing his story before the events of that novel.

When is It: Welcome to Derry episode 2 released?
The second episode of ‘It: Welcome to Derry’ will premiere on Sky Atlantic and NOW on November 3rd, 2025.
The new episode, called “The Thing in the Dark,” will premiere on Sky Atlantic at 2am, at the same time as its US debut. It will then be repeated later that day at 9pm.
Alternatively, stream at your convenience on NOW from the morning of Monday 3rd November.
How many episodes are in It: Welcome to Derry?
It: Welcome to Derry will consist of eight episodes initially.
Despite the current season’s conclusion, co-creator Andy Muschietti has hinted at the possibility of future seasons, suggesting a larger, ongoing story is planned, as he told Deadline.
What I really wanted to achieve with this story was to build something with a lot of hidden depth – like an iceberg. I envisioned layers of meaning slowly revealed throughout the first three seasons, with so much more beneath the surface than what you initially see.
“There will be an expansion in the mythology and more answers to the big questions.”
