Recent insider reports have generated excitement about a significant update for DC films. The rumor is that “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” will have additional filming done, which is an important step in developing James Gunn’s planned DC Universe.
Supergirl movie rumored to be adding scenes with Superman in reshoots
Sources say the upcoming “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” movie is filming extra scenes for about two weeks. These reshoots, which started this week, reportedly include new material with David Corenswet as Superman. Filming originally wrapped in May, and these additional scenes may strengthen the relationship between Supergirl and Superman within the new DC Universe.
The removal of the Superman costume from the Warner Bros. Studio Tour sparked some curiosity. A note indicated it was being used for filming, leading to guesses it might be for the upcoming film, Superman: Man of Tomorrow. However, that project is still in its early stages. Meanwhile, Supergirl recently had a private screening in Burbank for studio executives and James Gunn’s DC team.
Milly Alcock plays Supergirl, first appearing briefly at the end of the recent Superman film. The series also stars Eve Ridley as Ruthye Mary Knolle, Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills, David Krumholtz as Zor-El, Emily Beecham as Alura, and Jason Momoa as Lobo. Writer Ana Nogueira describes her Supergirl as more raw, intense, and humorous than previous versions, with a focus on the character’s emotional scars from witnessing the destruction of Krypton.
James Gunn previously pointed out the contrasting upbringings of Superman and Supergirl. Superman was raised on Earth by caring parents from infancy, while Supergirl grew up on a desolate planet and witnessed the destruction around her.
Warner Bros. will release Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow on June 26, 2026.
