Good news for fans of the Disney+ series! A potential second season is looking more likely. Despite some disappointing movie releases this year, like the financial underperformance of Thunderbolts, several small-screen Marvel projects have been well-received. Marvel Zombies, a spin-off of What If…?, is one of them. The series continues the story from Season 1, Episode 5, and focuses on heroes like Shang-Chi and Ms. Marvel as they struggle to survive in a zombie-filled world.
The first season of Marvel Zombies ended on a suspenseful note with the Scarlet Witch defeating the last survivors, leaving fans wondering if a second season would happen. Marvel Television’s Brad Winderbaum stated that a Season 2 would depend on viewership – essentially, if enough people watched the show, they would get more episodes. Now, there’s a new development that might finally reveal the show’s future.
According to entertainment reporter Daniel Richtman, Marvel Studios is planning a second season of their popular Disney+ series, Marvel Zombies.
After the animated series Marvel Zombies unexpectedly became a hit, Marvel Animation began exploring future stories within that universe. A source at Marvel told TopMob in September 2025 that the studio was very pleased with the show’s strong viewership numbers in its first five days, and it’s now considered one of their most successful animated series.
Okay, let me tell you, Marvel Zombies is a hit. Since it dropped on Disney+ on September 24th, 2025, it’s been climbing the charts. It quickly shot to number one and, impressively, stayed there for the first three days – consistently topping the U.S. streaming charts. It’s a definite win for Marvel and Disney+!
The upcoming Marvel Zombies project is a good indication that the MCU’s animated side is expanding. It opens the door to introducing exciting new characters – ones we haven’t seen in zombie stories yet – like more of the Eternals, X-Men, and even the Fantastic Four.
Marvel Zombies is the latest R-rated series from Marvel Studios. It follows a group of survivors who attempt to defeat the Queen of the Dead, though their plan doesn’t succeed. The animated series features voice acting from familiar faces like Simu Liu, Elizabeth Olsen, Iman Vellani, Dominique Thorne, Hailee Steinfeld, David Harbour, and Florence Pugh.
What to Expect in Marvel Zombies Season 2

Season 2 of Marvel Zombies builds on the strong storytelling of the first season by introducing interesting new characters like Blade Knight and surprising alliances. We’ll see team-ups like Ms. Marvel and Shang-Chi working together, as well as Spider-Man joining forces with the sorcerers of Kamar-Taj.
Okay, so the ending of Marvel Zombies Season 1 totally left me wondering – was Kamala a zombie, or was Wanda controlling her somehow with those Infinity Stones? I’m really hoping Season 2 finally explains it! From what I understand, it sounds like they’re going to focus on trying to save Kamala, and Riri Williams – thankfully still alive at the end of Season 1 – will be gathering a team of heroes to take down Scarlet Witch and stop all this zombie chaos. It’s a rescue mission, basically, and I’m really excited to see how it all plays out.
Defeating someone as powerful as the Scarlet Witch would require extremely strong heroes – she’s already beaten the Hulk even when he was empowered by an Infinity Stone, along with other heroes. Luckily, there are still characters who could potentially challenge her in a future season, including the remaining Guardians of the Galaxy, She-Hulk, and even Bob, who is also known as Sentry.
The next season of Marvel Zombies might explore the multiverse, offering a glimmer of hope for the surviving heroes. Ultimately, the show has a lot of exciting directions it could take.
