As you play the game, you’ll likely find yourself wondering how many main story missions there are. It’s good to know how close you are to finishing the game!

This game offers a good amount of optional things to do alongside a reasonably long main story. Ready to see what’s in store? Just a heads-up: some of the mission titles might hint at plot points.

There are eight main missions in The Outer Worlds 2.

These missions aren’t quick—they’re more involved quests that require a good deal of running around and completing tasks before you get to the main story moments. Expect to do some work to progress!

Every planet you explore is filled with extra things to do and optional activities. Some of these side quests will even affect the main story in noticeable and subtle ways, so don’t feel pressured to immediately jump to the next big goal!

Note: After Fiends in High Places, you can tackle the following two quests in either order.

We suggest starting with An Instrument to Unfold Space & Time, though you’re welcome to try A Complication with the Computronic Cerebrum first if you’d like.

No matter what I do in the game, everything eventually comes down to one big finale. It’s cool knowing that all the decisions I’ve made will actually matter and come into play at the end!

The game is bursting with a cheerful and playful spirit, and its unique characters will constantly draw you into new and exciting possibilities. Exploring every corner of the game is worthwhile, as you’ll be rewarded with valuable items or charming story moments.

However, it’s important to remember that key plot points can happen very quickly, and you might not realize you’ve made a significant decision until you see the serious results of it.

The game would benefit from clearer signals about important story moments and hidden collectibles. It’s quick to explain smaller features, like the new flaws system (which is a neat addition), but doesn’t do as good a job highlighting key content or plot points.

As you play through the main story, pay close attention to your surroundings. Check the computers for information, listen to what your allies say, and try to make the right choices during key scenes. Best of luck!
