When it comes to her kids’ careers, Kate Hudson wants them to be running point.
Kate Hudson talked about the future and how she envisions the paths her three children might take. Those children are Ryder Robinson, 21, whom she shares with Chris Robinson; Bingham Bellamy, 14, whom she shares with Matt Bellamy; and Rani Rose Hudson Fujikawa, 7, who she shares with Danny Fujikawa.
Kate revealed to Francesca Amiker of TopMob News on the red carpet of the Song Sung Blue premiere at AFI Fest 2025 that all of her children are musically inclined.
The 46-year-old mom says she’ll only encourage her children to learn musical instruments if they genuinely enjoy it.
Kate said she simply wants her children to be genuinely happy and live fulfilling, peaceful lives. That’s her biggest wish for them.
As a parent who really admires Kate’s approach, I’ve learned she believes our kids need to stumble a bit to truly find themselves. She actually wants them to mess up – she says making lots of mistakes is a really important part of growing up and becoming confident!
I always remember her saying, ‘Have fun and don’t be afraid to shake things up!’ She really believes in letting people be themselves, and always emphasized, ‘Don’t let anyone dictate how you live your life.’ Ultimately, she just wants to see everyone be a good person, and that’s what matters most to her – and to me, too.
It wouldn’t be shocking if Ryder, Bingham, and Rani followed in their fathers’ footsteps and pursued music. Kate has also shown an interest in singing, even featuring a performance in her latest film, Song Sung Blue.

The actress from Almost Famous, who plays Claire Sardina – a member of a Neil Diamond tribute band alongside Hugh Jackman’s character – was able to showcase creative skills she’s developed over a long period through her role in the film.
Kate shared that music has always been her biggest passion. She loved being able to play the piano for this role, saying it allowed her to fully express that love in a way she hadn’t been able to before.
You can see Song Sung Blue in theaters on December 25th. Before then, read on to learn more about Kate and Danny’s sweet and loving family!
