The PlayStation 2, a beloved classic, recently marked 25 years since its North American release. However, Sony’s online acknowledgment of the milestone felt surprisingly dismissive to many fans.
The company highlighted its classic games available through PlayStation Plus Premium, which is a logical move. However, many of the PlayStation’s most beloved titles are surprisingly absent from the service.
The trailer highlights several fantastic games including Jak & Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, Mister Mosquito, Dark Cloud, Siren, and Sly Cooper.
Fans have noted that the current list leaves out many fantastic PS2 games, such as God of War, Ratchet & Clank, ICO, and Twisted Metal Black, among others.
It’s also worth noting that SoulCalibur 3 and Tomb Raider Anniversary are scheduled to be added to the service in the next few months.
It’s great that Sony is continuing to revisit its classic games and improve the way we play them on newer consoles. Their commitment to bringing back these retro titles is a real plus.
But we don’t think we’re being greedy to ask for more.
These classic game releases have been coming out very slowly, and the company still has a lot more they could easily add to the PS Store.
I’m really hoping the developers are listening to what players are saying and start adding these older games a lot faster. It would be awesome!
