You like Ariana Grande’s hair? Gee, thanks, she just got it. 

The actress from Wicked has a new hairstyle before starting publicity for the movie’s sequel with Cynthia Erivo. It’s the first time she’s changed her blonde hair color since 2022.

Ariana shared a mirror selfie showing off her natural hair color and playfully captioned it on Instagram on October 29th, “It’s good to see me, isn’t it?”

Ariana Grande wasn’t the only one excited about going back to a darker hair color. Her stylist, Francesco De Chiara, was also thrilled and shared the photo on his Instagram, simply writing, “Here she is.”

On Ariana’s own post, Francesco added, “We’re back amore.”

Francesco hinted at a new beginning for Ariana Grande, sharing a fan’s post celebrating her recent switch to brunette curls and declaring, “A new chapter has begun!”

Ariana Grande returning to her signature look could signal the end of her time playing Glinda. She’s mentioned before that she felt it was necessary to dye her hair blonde for the roles in Wicked and Wicked: For Good.

Ariana Grande, 32, told Vogue in 2024 that even while wearing wigs for her role, she still needed to be blonde. She even dyed her eyebrows to match, explaining that lighter brows contributed to the soft look of her character, Glinda.

As she noted, “It didn’t make any sense when I had my dark brows.”

The singer, known for “Eternal Sunshine,” didn’t just change her hair to get into character – a role she’d always hoped to play. She also altered her voice, which led to some criticism as she fully embraced the part of Oz.

Honestly, it kills me when people don’t get how much work went into becoming these characters! I mean, we didn’t just play them, we really dove in, and it takes time for those little habits – the way someone speaks, their gestures – to fade away after filming. People might make jokes, but we had a responsibility to the story and we had to fully lose ourselves in the role, because that’s what it demanded. It wasn’t about me anymore, it was about becoming someone else, and that takes a toll, you know?

As a huge Ariana fan, I’m so excited to see her going back to brunette – it feels like the return of the pop star we all love! She’s kicking off a tour for her eternal sunshine album this summer, which I already have pre-ordered. But honestly, playing Glinda has clearly had a lasting impact on her, and I think that’s a beautiful thing. She’s evolved, and I can’t wait to see what she does next.

She told Variety that while some memories might fade, she’s thankful for the ones that will last a lifetime.
