Someone who used to work at Bend Studio, the team behind Days Gone, says the studio’s live service game being canceled wasn’t a surprise, and signs of it happening were apparent beforehand.
Robert Morrison, a senior animator who worked on the project for nearly three years (July 2022 – June 2025), stated that the team didn’t achieve enough significant development during his time there and he anticipated the project would ultimately be cancelled.
Morrison’s LinkedIn profile shows he worked on a cancelled Sony Bend project called “Mirror Pond”. He created animations for the game’s main characters and non-player characters, using both hand-keyed techniques and motion capture. He also collaborated closely with programmers and designers to develop and improve various gameplay systems within the Decima engine.
Currently, Morrison is a member of the team at Ready or Not developer Void Interactive. He’s also previously worked on popular titles like Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, God of War, and The Last of Us Part I.
Sony Bend’s latest project and a game in development at Bluepoint Games have both been cancelled. The Bluepoint game was widely believed to be a live-service version of God of War, and details – including screenshots of environments and scenery – leaked online earlier this week.
Back in January 2025, Sony announced they were collaborating with Sony Bend and Bluepoint Games to determine future projects and limit any negative effects on business. Sony Bend is famous for the Syphon Filter games on the original PlayStation and, more recently, for the popular title Days Gone.
