For decades, Watchmen has been considered the most important comic book ever created. The series, a career-defining work for Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons, profoundly impacted superheroes and the comic book industry. A movie adaptation was inevitable, and finally arrived with Zack Snyder’s 2009 film. While opinions on the film’s quality – both as an adaptation and within Snyder’s filmography – are mixed, its flaws are undeniable.
As a movie buff, I’m always fascinated by little details, and even the biggest films aren’t perfect! It’s funny, Watchmen, like Star Wars or Raiders of the Lost Ark, has some pretty noticeable errors and bloopers. Honestly, every movie has them, but it’s not really fair to let those small mistakes define the whole film. Still, there are seven specific errors in Watchmen that, once you spot them, you can’t unsee! So, before you dive back in for another re-watch, maybe think twice about whether you want to notice them every time.
7) Zack Snyder Hiding on Set

At the beginning of the movie, when The Comedian is thrown around his apartment, look closely near the kitchen counter—you can briefly see a strange lump. It disappears in the next shot, which might seem like a mistake. However, director Zack Snyder revealed the truth: the lump is actually him! He was watching the scene being filmed and trying to stay out of the way.
6) The Minutemen Photo

The beginning of the movie Watchmen quickly establishes the world it takes place in. It introduces the first team of superheroes, called The Minutemen, through a memorable shot. In this shot, the original Nite Owl is positioned in the center, and his head obscures the year on a banner indicating when the team was formed. Interestingly, every time this photo appears later in the film, the banner is shown higher up, gradually revealing the year it represents.
5) The Comedian’s Grave Is Hilariiously Small

Okay, so there’s this really sad scene where they’re burying The Comedian, Eddie Blake. But as a fan, I immediately noticed something weird! They show a shot from above, and his coffin, still with the American flag over it, is positioned over the grave… but the hole they dug is clearly too short! Like, a good foot too short. It’s a small detail, but it’s so noticeable – it looks like he’s going to be buried at an angle. It’s a bit jarring during such a serious moment, honestly!
4) Silk Spectre’s Shoes Change

When Silke Spectre and Nite Owl go to rescue Rorschach from prison, Silke jumps from their ship, Archimedes, showing off the high-heeled boots she’s wearing. However, as she fights her way down, the boots noticeably change into flat shoes – it’s clear the stunt performer needed more practical footwear for the action sequence. It’s a brief but obvious error.
3) Bubastis Has No Reflection

Ozymandias poisoned his scientists at his Antarctic base, then left with his pet, Bubastis. However, the visual effects used to show Bubastis walking alongside him were flawed. The effect only showed Bubastis on one side, failing to create a reflection that would appear on both sides of the image, leaving only Ozymandias and his cape visible in the reflection.
2) Ozymandias Catches the Bullet…Right?

The movie’s final showdown takes an unexpected turn when Silk Spectre decides to confront Ozymandias directly, opting for a quiet moment instead of a large battle. She pulls a gun on him, and as she fires, he quickly moves his arm—seemingly to protect himself. However, longtime fans realize he’s actually using incredible speed to catch the bullet mid-air. The scene has a slight mistake, though: after landing and showing off his catch, he’s holding the bullet in the wrong hand – his right, instead of his left.
1) A Non-CGI Doctor Manhattan

Once the heroes learn the full scope of Ozymandias’ plan, a funny mistake pops up on screen. During a close-up of Nite Owl, you can briefly see a reflection in his goggles – it’s actually actor Billy Crudup wearing the LED suit he wore during filming, not the finished visual effects version of Doctor Manhattan. It’s a subtle detail, but it’s definitely there. Here’s a look at the suit in question.
