When you’re in the thick of a fight in Battlefield 6 Redsec, taking down an enemy is just the first step – you quickly need to ensure they stay down.
But hold up, wait a minute.
There’s a useful trick that isn’t explained very well, especially if you skipped the tutorial. It’s much easier to take enemies down up close instead of trying to shoot them from a distance.
Let me explain: when you get near an enemy you’ve knocked down, you can perform a takedown instead of shooting them. Doing this reveals the current locations of the rest of their team, making it much easier to eliminate the entire squad.

The process is this:
- Down an enemy.
- Approach the enemy until you see the takedown prompt.
- Takedown the enemy, short animation plays out.
- See teammates locations.
You’ll get a quick signal, though it won’t last long – just a few seconds. But during intense moments, even those few seconds can be crucial.
Redsec differs from games like Call of Duty: Warzone because it doesn’t constantly display enemy positions on the mini-map. Success in Redsec relies more on careful observation and coordinating with your team, although a little help isn’t always unwelcome.
First, make sure you actually see the prompt appear on your screen. If you attack immediately without waiting, it will register as a normal attack and you won’t receive the special live ping notification.

However, your opponents can also use this tactic against your team. If they manage to take one of your players out this way, your team’s position will be exposed.
You’ll usually receive some warning, but if you do, don’t stay put! Keep moving – it’s much harder to hit a moving target. The worst thing you can do is stay in one place when someone knows your location.
As a tech enthusiast, I always think about trade-offs, and this reminds me of that! When you’re dealing with something far away, like a long-distance takedown in a game, it’s usually not worth the risk of getting close. But if things get up close and personal, the potential payoff is often worth taking a chance on. It’s all about weighing the risks against the rewards, really.
