Battlefield 6’s New Season 1 Map Panned by Players: “This is The Worst Map in BF History”

Players haven’t been happy with the launch of Battlefield: RedSec, as it currently has a “Mostly Negative” rating on Steam. Adding to the disappointment, the first season of Battlefield 6 and its new map, Blackwell Fields, are also drawing criticism from the community.

Players are calling this new Battlefield map the worst ever made, complaining that it’s too small and doesn’t offer good cover. Many have pointed out that enemies are visible immediately after spawning, leading to constant, unavoidable fire. One player described it as being “shot at from every angle” with “no break” from the action, and that opponents can start shooting as soon as they appear.

Although Blackwell Fields is a large map, which players often requested, many are finding the design underwhelming. One player described it as flat, with just a few oil wells and a nice sky. A major issue is that helicopters are often targeted by anti-aircraft guns even while inside their own base. Players who choose the Recon class might enjoy the map, but other classes will likely struggle.

DICE hasn’t said much about the current map or how they’re responding to player feedback, but they promise more details will be revealed in Season 1. A new map called Eastwood will be released on November 18th, and it’s designed to support battles of any size. It’s still unclear whether it will offer a fun and engaging player-versus-player experience.

Battlefield 6 is available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Check out our review of the base game.
