Following the successful launch of the remake of the original Metal Gear Solid game, Konami is preparing to release FOX Hunt, its new online multiplayer mode. Players have been eagerly anticipating this mode and its innovative gameplay.
This new game mode lets players become FOX operatives and compete against each other in exciting battles, adding stealth, action, and depth to the core gameplay. Konami recently revealed details and showcased gameplay at TGS 2025.
Want to know more about the latest updates to Delta: Snake Eater? We’ve gathered all the key details in one place, so let’s get started!
Two Game Modes, Twice The Fun
Let’s start with the basics. FOX Hunt offers two ways to play, each with its own challenges as you compete against others. In the first mode, Survival Capture, you’ll race to find Kerotan Frogs hidden on the map, trying to be the last player or team remaining.
Every fight happens in three stages, giving you a limited time to complete your goals. If you fail, you’ll be quickly removed from the arena. In Capture mode, you need to hold onto a Kerotan Frog until the timer runs out. You can find these frogs around the arena or take them from other players – and they can steal yours too! If you get defeated, you’ll respawn and have until the end of the current stage to grab another frog.
Survival Intrude focuses on finding and staying within a shrinking safe zone as each round progresses. You’ll need to be strategic about where you hide and how you use the available space. Players familiar with Metal Gear Online will recognize similar concepts, though this mode has its own unique elements. If you’re eliminated, you’ll respawn and have to return to the safe zone before time runs out.
You already know the mission, but a Metal Gear game isn’t complete without awesome gadgets and equipment to make things more exciting, right? Luckily, FOX Hunt has some cool new tools for your agent to help with that.
Dressed For The Occasion
You’ll be using your All Terrain Camo (AT-CAMO) suit a lot – it’s a key part of how the game works! As the name suggests, it helps you blend into your surroundings.

This feature allows you to blend into your surroundings, effectively camouflaging yourself with the environment, similar to how Naked Snake operates in the game. You can use it to avoid enemies, set up ambushes, or simply remain hidden while waiting for a situation to unfold – all while opponents walk right past you without noticing.
The game offers skilled players exciting opportunities to master its stealth features and come up with incredibly inventive strategies. Players can even choose disguises that seem odd for their surroundings, but still make sense within the game world—like pretending to be grass on stone, or rocks in mud. The options are limitless, and we expect to see players using their imagination to trick each other once FOX Hunt is released.
Besides the AT-CAMO suit, another key ability you’ll have is Naked Sense. Your FOX operative, like the unit’s former star, can sharpen their senses to find nearby enemies and valuable items. It sounds great, but there are some drawbacks you should be aware of.
First, use Naked Sense to locate food while exploring the map. It relies on your stamina, so eating regularly will let you continue using it. Plus, there’s a catch – Konami has added a dangerous element to consider.
Using Naked Sense for too long lets opponents pinpoint your location, but it works both ways – players will need to strategically use it to outsmart each other. Combined with the AT-CAMO suits, FOX Hunt offers a fresh yet classic Metal Gear experience in either of its two game modes.
Successfully completing your mission requires carefully weighing the risks and benefits of using your skills. You’ll need to be strategic about where you conceal yourself and how you use your enhanced senses, as failure means you’re out. You can try to trick your opponents into making errors, or you can focus on quietly completing your objective – either approach can work. Ultimately, it’s up to you and your team to decide the best strategy, and finding a mix of both methods might be the most effective.
But there are other wrinkles to its gameplay loop that are sure to keep you on your toes.
Play Well, And Keep At It
A skilled operative like you knows things aren’t always simple. This is particularly true in FOX Hunt. Your suit and Naked Sense are helpful, but they won’t solve everything. You’ll have limited space to carry items, so you’ll need to carefully choose what you pick up while on missions.
This is particularly true in Survival Capture mode, where you can carry multiple Kerotan Frogs. However, doing so takes up valuable inventory space that could be used for important items or weapons. It also creates a risk: if you struggle, you might give your opponent an edge.
Alternatively, you can give the extra Frog to a teammate, increasing their chances of surviving to the next round and denying your opponent that benefit. Success isn’t just about your equipment and abilities; it also depends on how you approach each mission, which should lead to some exciting and competitive matches in the coming months.
Sneaking into enemy territory is even more tense when you have limited space for supplies. Because the game focuses on using your senses to move unseen, you’ll have to carefully decide what to carry – food, weapons, or other useful items. Will you focus on staying hidden and avoiding fights, or stock up on tools to defend yourself when enemies inevitably come looking?

As you continue playing, you’ll be able to unlock new disguises for your AT-CAMO suit, letting you blend in as everyday objects in the arena and surprise your opponents. Plus, there are tons of cosmetic items to unlock, which might just keep you playing late into the night!
We especially liked the “disguises” – these are skins that let you play as popular characters from the main game. Seeing options like Eva or young Ocelot during the presentation was a cool touch, letting you personalize your experience. These disguises, along with new radio options, emotes, and other unlockables, give you extra reasons to keep playing FOX Hunt, but honestly, the gameplay itself is reward enough.
Honestly, FOX Hunt feels like exactly the new Metal Gear multiplayer experience I’ve been hoping for. If you’re as hyped as I am, you’ll probably see me out on the battlefield – though no promises, I might get wrecked quickly!
