7 Best Fantasy Anime Worth Watching Now

Fantasy stories have always captivated people, and they’re a major part of Japan’s storytelling tradition, especially in anime and manga. The fantasy setting is perfect for exciting plots, allowing creators to build imaginative worlds and unique power systems. These stories often take us on grand adventures, combining classic themes with modern animation and intricate storylines. What’s truly special about fantasy is its endless potential – it doesn’t just create magical worlds, it reimagines reality with new rules, societies, and possibilities.

I’m a huge anime fan, and lately I’ve noticed so many amazing shows are mixing fantasy into their stories – it’s fantastic! While a lot touch on it, some really dive in and create these incredible worlds. And honestly, the animation quality just takes that worldbuilding to a whole new level. If you’re like me and always looking for the best fantasy anime to watch, I’m excited to share some of my top picks!

7) The Saint’s Magic Power is Omnipotent

Looking for a relaxing anime to unwind with? This series might be exactly what you need. It’s a fantasy adventure with a developing romance, where the main character tries to save the world she’s been brought to. Best of all, the whole story is told in just two seasons, making it a great choice for a weekend binge.

The story centers around Sei Takanashi, who unexpectedly finds herself transported to a different world with another girl. They were summoned as a potential saint, but everyone mistakenly believes Sei isn’t the one. She works as a researcher at a botanical institute, and her ordinary life changes completely when she rescues Albert Hawke, the commander of the Third Order of Knights.

6) Wistoria: Wand and Sword

Many fans compare this exciting action-fantasy to Black Clover because both main characters are born without magic in worlds where magic defines social standing. Despite this disadvantage, they overcome it with swordsmanship, incredible strength, and determination. The anime has aired one season and is scheduled to return with a new season in Spring 2026.

Will Serfort dreams of becoming a Magia Vander – one of the kingdom’s five most powerful magicians – despite having no magical ability himself. He’s determined to overcome this challenge, driven by his desire to be reunited with the girl he loves, who was taken from him due to her own extraordinary magical gifts.

5) Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic

This magic series is truly exceptional, standing out as a landmark achievement in the genre. While the anime adaptation didn’t cover the entire story, the original manga by Shinobu Ohtaka has already concluded to widespread acclaim. It’s a thrilling blend of action, adventure, and thoughtful commentary on politics and society’s darker sides. The story follows Aladdin, a powerful young magician known as a Magi – a rare title given to those with the immense power to change the world.

Throughout his travels, he meets Alibaba Saluja, a determined young man on a quest to overcome a dangerous dungeon. They quickly become friends, and together they embark on an incredible adventure. As they journey onward, Aladdin begins to uncover hidden truths about his family history and his destiny.

4) Dororo

This 2019 series is a fresh take on Osamu Tezuka’s beloved manga, telling a gripping story in a single season. It explores difficult moral questions through the eyes of Hyakkimaru, a character who faces incredible hardship simply to survive. Born without a body or senses, he was saved by his mother’s desperate pleas, and the story follows his daily fight for existence.

I witnessed a remarkable story unfold. A man, left for dead, was rescued and given a second chance by someone who crafted artificial limbs and weapons for him. As he grew, he set out on a quest to avenge the demons who had taken pieces of his body as offerings. Along the way, he met Dororo, a young boy who, like him, had been abandoned and forced to survive on his own. Dororo ended up joining him on his journey.

3) May I Ask For One Final Thing?

“May I Ask for One Final Thing?” is a popular romance fantasy series that premiered in Fall 2025. It quickly gained attention thanks to its captivating main character, Scarlet el Vandimion. Scarlet is a noblewoman forced into an unwanted engagement with Prince Kyle. After years of enduring mistreatment and false accusations, she finally reaches her breaking point when wrongly accused of something.

To make matters worse, after her engagement was called off for everyone to see, she boldly fought and defeated dozens of nobles right there in the ballroom. Throughout the story, she consistently challenges and humiliates arrogant, greedy nobles. However, she can’t shake the attention of Crown Prince Julius von Pallistan, who constantly teases her with his mischievous nature.

2) Witch Watch

If you love fantasy creatures like witches, ogres, vampires, and werewolves, this series has it all! Witch Watch is a unique and engaging fantasy story set in today’s world, where magical beings have adapted to live alongside humans. The story follows Morihito Otogi, a secret ogre, as he reconnects with his childhood friend, Nico Wakatsuki, a witch who spent years training in a magical land before returning home.

Morihito discovers his parents have arranged for him to live with Nico and act as her protector, as a dangerous situation is approaching. Throughout the story, Nico and Morihito encounter many unusual creatures who join their household and help keep Nico safe from various dangers.

1) Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End

Considered one of the best anime ever made, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is a moving and somewhat sad story that explores themes of loss and how quickly time passes. The story starts after a great adventure where the Demon King was defeated, and focuses on Frieren, an elf mage who’s lived for over a thousand years. Because she knows humans don’t live very long, she’s never truly connected with them.

At Himmel’s funeral, Frieren unexpectedly feels regret for not having known him better. Hearing about Aureole, a resting place for souls, she sets out on a journey to find him. Joined by her apprentice, Fern, and a hopeful hero named Stark, Frieren travels back to places she once visited with her old companions, and begins to understand how meaningful each moment truly was.
