Capcom recently released a new trailer for Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection. Although it doesn’t show actual gameplay, the trailer expands on the game’s narrative and introduces its characters. It also details what’s included in the Deluxe Edition and the benefits of pre-ordering.
As a huge Monster Hunter fan, I was so excited to see an older monster I’ve been hoping to see in Wilds actually show up in this new Monster Hunter Stories game! Here’s a breakdown of everything the latest trailer revealed about it.
The new trailer focuses on the game’s beautiful environments, which are in danger of being overtaken by a strange event called the Encroachment. This phenomenon transforms everything into crystal.
We also get quick introductions to the characters the player will encounter throughout the game, including enemies from the Vermeil Empire and potential allies who can join the hero’s team.
The trailer’s biggest reveal is the return of Yama Tsukami, a massive monster last featured in a Western Monster Hunter game way back in 2008’s Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. Players will finally get to battle this epic boss again.

The trailer ends by announcing that pre-orders for the game are now available, and details about the pre-order bonus and special Deluxe Editions are included.
Pre-ordering the game will net you access to the Skyscale Queen Layered Armor Set for Eleanor.

| Standard Edition: | This contains only the base game. |
| Deluxe Edition: | This will contain the base game, a Deluxe Kit containing various cosmetic costumes and hairstyles, and access to a Rudy side-story DLC adventure that will be released in Autumn 2026. |
| Premium Deluxe Edition | This will contain all the content of the Deluxe Edition, along with a DLC pack containing more cosmetic outfits and hairstyles. |
The Nintendo Switch 2 version will include amiibo figures you can buy. Scanning these amiibo will unlock special Skyscale Rathalos armor for your character and a new outfit for Rudy.
Plus, if you have saved game files from Monster Hunter Stories 1, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, and Monster Hunter Rise, you’ll automatically unlock special armor sets from those games.
At long last, I can finally fight Yama Tsukami in Monster Hunter Stories

I was already planning to buy Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection after watching a detailed gameplay preview, but finding out Yama Tsukami is a boss definitely convinced me to get it.
I haven’t had a chance to fight this monster myself because it was only available in Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, and I no longer own a PSP to play it on.
As an analyst, I have to say I’m more hyped about the potential to battle that balloon-like Cthulhu in Monster Hunter Stories – or even a future mainline Monster Hunter game – than I was when Capcom revealed Omega for Monster Hunter Wilds. It’s a surprisingly exciting prospect!
I’m really excited to continue my adventures with my Monsties and finally battle Yama Tsukami in Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflections, which comes out on March 13, 2026, for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC through Steam.
