Zombies aren’t known for having feelings. They’re essentially driven by basic instincts – a relentless hunger for human flesh and brains. You rarely, if ever, see a zombie showing emotion. But now, thanks to a new video from DC Studios co-CEO and filmmaker James Gunn, that’s exactly what we can see.
As a huge movie fan, I always love seeing filmmakers connect directly with audiences, and James Gunn is one of the best at it. He’s constantly sharing glimpses behind the scenes on social media, which is awesome. Now that Peacemaker Season 2 is done, he just posted something really special: a clip of a stunt coordinator, fully made up as a zombie, watching the trailer for Superman and seeing his daughter in it for the very first time. It’s a genuinely heartwarming moment, and you can check it out on his Twitter feed below!
A standout scene from the first trailer for the new Superman movie shows David Corenswet’s Superman rescuing a girl from falling debris during a battle with a giant monster. It turns out that girl is the daughter of the stunt coordinator, Adam Hart, and director James Gunn was deeply moved when he first saw the scene. It’s a touching moment on its own, but it’s even more special because the girl was wearing zombie makeup – making the video particularly fun to watch with Halloween just around the corner. Any zombies you see crying while trick-or-treating won’t have quite the same emotional impact!
James Gunn was finishing up the season finale of Peacemaker just as Warner Bros. released the first trailer for Superman, which created a great opportunity for some fun online buzz. This marked the third collaboration between Gunn and stunt performer/coordinator, who had previously worked together on the set of 2021’s The Suicide Squad before taking on the coordinator role for Superman.
The scene of Superman saving Adam Hart’s daughter – a highlight of the movie’s trailer – is even more impressive when seen in the full context of the film. Now that Superman has had a successful run in theaters, it’s available for viewing at home. You can stream it with an HBO Max subscription, rent or buy the digital version, or purchase it on Blu-ray and 4K UHD disc.
