It’s been over a year since new episodes of American Horror Story aired, leaving fans eager for updates. The last season premiered in April 2024, and the wait for Season 13 has been stressful for many. Now, Ryan Murphy has shared a Halloween treat with fans: he’s announced the cast for the new season and revealed when viewers can expect it to arrive.
A spooky video, styled with the iconic title sequence from American Horror Story, announced that Season 13 is aiming for a Halloween 2026 release. The biggest news, however, was the confirmation of returning cast members, including Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd, Gabourey Sidibe, and Leslie Grossman. And, thrilling fans even more, Jessica Lange will be back! Joining them is Ariana Grande, known for her role in Wicked.
Is American Horror Story Season 13 Another Crossover?

Now that the cast for Season 13 of American Horror Story is set, fans are eager to learn what the new season will be about. A recently released video might offer some hints about the storyline. The video also features a famous line from the show – “Surprise bitch, I bet you thought you’d seen the last of me” – suggesting familiar faces and unexpected twists are ahead, especially considering many of the returning actors have played multiple roles in the past.
Dedicated viewers of American Horror Story will recognize this line, spoken by Emma Roberts’ character, Madison Montgomery, in multiple seasons – it’s become one of the show’s most famous quotes. FX and AHS might just be playfully hinting at the show’s comeback with this post, or they could be suggesting that many beloved characters will return to reprise their roles, potentially leading to a crossover event even larger than Season 8, American Horror Story: Apocalypse.
Right now, we’re just guessing, but Jessica Lange coming back to American Horror Story feels like a big shift for the series. Lange had announced her retirement from acting and even recently said she wouldn’t be involved in Season 13, making her return a real shock. Considering how firmly she’d stated she was done with acting and the show, we’re curious if she was drawn back by the possibility of playing one of her previous characters again.
Lange has appeared as four different characters throughout the show’s run, including reprising her role as Constance Langdon from the first season in season eight. Peters and Paulson, also returning, have each played over ten characters in total. It’s great to finally have some solid information about the new season, and the preview suggests a major storyline is coming.
