South Park Brings Back Forgotten Character After 20 Years For Halloween Special

This year’s South Park Halloween special continued the show’s tradition of tackling controversial topics, which has recently generated a lot of attention. The episode featured jokes about the current U.S. government and also revisited the ongoing issues facing the Marsh family. In a funny turn of events, Stan and his friends find a solution to their money troubles, unexpectedly paving the way for the return of a character who hasn’t been seen on the show for decades.

Please be aware that this discussion contains spoilers for South Park’s latest Halloween special, “The Woman in the Hat.” After leaving Tegridy Farms, Stan learns from his dad that they’ll be moving in with his grandfather at a retirement home. To improve their financial situation, Stan, Kyle, and Kenny create their own cryptocurrency, jokingly called “South Park Sucks Now.” They then enlist the help of Kyle’s cousin, Kyle Schwartz, who hasn’t appeared on the show for many years, making his return a surprising twist.

South Park Sucks Now

As a longtime South Park fan, I thought the whole cryptocurrency bit in the Halloween special was brilliant! It was so funny seeing them directly address how the show has changed, with the boys pointing out that it’s been more about current events than their usual adventures. Stan even calling out Kenny for being silent for months was a perfect touch – and Kenny’s muffled response was classic! While the kids were dealing with all this, it was also rough watching Kyle’s struggles at the White House. It was just a really self-aware and hilarious episode.

Okay, so the latest installment really throws our hero, Schwartz, into a wild situation. He’s trying to drum up some buzz for cryptocurrency, which leads him to a bizarre meeting with the White House – and even a Halloween seance to figure out who’s haunting the Oval Office! Things go horribly wrong, though, and Kyle’s cousin ends up taking the fall, landing him a ten-year prison sentence – which probably means we won’t be seeing Schwartz back for a while. The ending is a riot, with Stan surprisingly coming to terms with life in the retirement home, even joining in on the exercise routines – it’s a clear wink to The Shining, and honestly, pretty funny.

There are only three episodes left in this season of South Park, and they won’t be airing every week. Instead, new episodes will arrive on November 12th, November 26th, and December 10th. The good news is that South Park has been renewed for multiple future seasons, with new seasons coming out each year, so fans won’t have to wait too long for the show to return after the current season ends this winter.
