The old NBA Experience at Disney Springs in Orlando, Florida is being transformed into a new entertainment space called Level99.
On October 21, 2025, construction walls were put up around the building, marking the start of renovations. The walls are decorated with artwork featuring the Level99 logo and images promoting the new attraction. Plus, advertising is now being shown on the large LED screen on the front of the building.

Instead of tearing down and completely rebuilding like they did with DisneyQuest and the NBA Experience, Level99 will simply renovate the inside of the current building. The City Works Eatery & Pour House restaurant on the ground floor is still open and will stay that way while the work is being done.
What Is Level99?
Level99 is a fun, interactive entertainment venue designed for groups. It’s like a real-life video game where teams work together to complete a series of over 60 different challenges. These challenges test your physical ability, problem-solving skills, and mental agility, all against the clock. You beat one challenge, then move on to the next!

Level99 at Disney Springs offers a fun and challenging experience for groups. You’ll work together to solve puzzles in themed rooms – like escaping an ancient temple or surviving a pirate adventure – and compete for a top spot on the leaderboard. Each challenge is timed, giving you just one to four minutes to succeed, so quick thinking is key!
Beyond the games, the 45,000-square-foot space will feature a two-story bar with unique cocktails and a full kitchen serving Level99’s Detroit-style pizza. They’ve already started hiring, though an official opening date hasn’t been revealed. Fans are hoping it will open in Spring 2026, but the website only says: “Coming to Disney Springs.”
What Does Level99 Replace?
As a huge Disney fan, I was sad when DisneyQuest closed, but the NBA Experience didn’t quite fill the void for me. Now, it looks like Level99 is taking over that same space – I’m really curious to see what they do with it!

DisneyQuest was a large indoor entertainment center that operated for almost twenty years, from June 1998 to July 2017. It featured motion simulators, virtual reality experiences, and classic arcade games. Guests paid one price for unlimited play, which created a dedicated and nostalgic following. A quick-service restaurant inside offered food and drinks for purchase, separate from the admission cost.
DisneyQuest closed in 2017 and was torn down to build the NBA Experience. Unfortunately, the NBA attraction wasn’t successful and closed in March 2020 when the parks shut down due to the pandemic. It never reopened. The building has been mostly empty ever since, except for the City Works restaurant on the ground floor, until very recently.
Level99 – A Brief History
Level99 was created by Matthew DuPlessie, who also founded 5 Wits, a company known for its escape room-style adventures, back in 2004. Level99 builds on that concept, offering a much larger and more engaging experience with immersive stories, physical challenges, and game-like elements that you can enjoy again and again.

Level99 first launched in Natick, Massachusetts in 2021 and became popular right away. Since then, they’ve opened stores in Providence, Rhode Island, and Tysons, Virginia, with another one planned for West Hartford, Connecticut. The upcoming location in Disney Springs will be the first Level99 store inside a large theme park area.
A Necessary Upgrade for Disney Springs
The NBA Experience at Disney Springs didn’t succeed. Although it had a museum with basketball items and a few things for guests to interact with, people weren’t interested enough to visit in large numbers. It just didn’t make sense to pay to experience something similar to what you could do for free elsewhere, like at a school or community gym. So, it wasn’t surprising when it closed.

Level99 feels like a natural addition to Disney Springs, successfully capturing the fun of DisneyQuest without being a direct copy. Designed for ages 10 and up, it’s a great option for families, teens, and adults, offering an engaging, adventurous, and social experience—something Disney Springs has needed in this area since DisneyQuest closed its doors.

Although many devoted fans miss DisneyQuest, Level99 has the potential to be a much more exciting and current experience than the NBA Experience. If it’s successful, it could really revitalize the West Side area of Disney Springs.
