Like many extraction shooter games, Arc Raiders struggles with players being ambushed while trying to escape at the Cargo Elevator points – these locations are easy to spot and make a lot of noise during the escape process. The game tries to solve this with a special feature called the Raider Hatch, which appears on the map as a downward-pointing arrow leading to a semi-circular opening.
This guide is all about the various methods to get a hold of the Raider Hatch Keys in Arc Raiders.
Looting Raider Hatch Keys
Raider Hatch Keys are quite rare and usually found as loot on the surface, particularly in residential areas.
As a fan, I’ve found Raider Caches are a great way to snag Hatch Keys, but they’re totally random, so finding them can be tough. Luckily, during the Hidden Caches event, storms dig up a bunch of old Raider Caches, making them appear much more often all over the map! If you’re hunting for them, listen for a ticking sound or look for a small red flag – but be careful, because they can explode!
You can also rarely find a Raider Hatch Key on a defeated Raider. However, experienced players usually keep it safely stored in their Safe Pocket because it’s so valuable.
Purchasing Raider Hatch Keys
Okay, so I found out that Shani in Speranza sells the Raider Hatch Key, but it’s super expensive – 9000 Coins! And you can’t even see it for sale until you hit level 12. Plus, once you buy one, you have to wait a full 24 hours before you can buy another. Talk about making you plan your raids!
I’ve been thinking, if you can swing the cost, it might be a good idea to buy one of these keys every day for a bit. That way, you could build up a nice collection!
Crafting Raider Hatch Keys
To make Raider Hatch Keys, you’ll first need to add a Utility Station to your Workshop. Building it requires 50 Plastic Parts and 6 ARC Alloy.
After that, you can make the key using three Sensors and one Advanced Electrical Component. However, these Raider Hatch Keys aren’t worth much – you’ll only get 1000 Coins when you sell them.
As you progress, it’s a good idea to focus on the Traveling Tinkerer skill. This will eventually let you craft useful items during raids, like the Raider Hatch Key, and other helpful consumables.
Use Case Scenarios For Raider Hatches
Because Raider Hatch Keys are rare, it’s best to keep them safely stored until you’re actually at the Raider Hatch ready to extract. Usually, you’ll want to extract normally, but if only a few Cargo Elevators are left – and they’re likely being watched by players waiting to ambush anyone running out in the open – it might be smarter to adjust your strategy.
Because Raider Hatches are quiet and positioned away from dangerous areas, you should be able to escape unnoticed.
When time is running out, these escape routes let you stay and loot longer without panicking about the Cargo Elevators closing. Areas farther from active extraction points can actually be safer for collecting supplies, as most players will focus on the remaining elevators.
When playing as a squad, everyone can use the Raider Hatch, even if they don’t have a key. However, the hatch doesn’t stay open forever, so players who fall behind risk getting left behind when it closes.
That is everything there is to know about getting and using Raider Hatch Keys in Arc Raiders.
