Okay, so ARC Raiders blew up! Seriously, it’s been incredible since launch. I couldn’t believe it when I checked and saw over 350,000 of us were playing just yesterday. It’s awesome to see so many people jumping in.
The game’s sudden increase in players caused problems with connections, leaving many experiencing long wait times and difficulty finding matches.
The game has been incredibly popular, and many other developers have praised it.
Palworld developer John Buckley, known as Bucky, recently complimented the game’s impressive technology and how well its creators utilized Unreal Engine 5.

Bucky shared on Twitter that he thinks ARC Raiders is the most technically impressive game he’s played this year.
Although he highlighted Ball X Pit and Megabonk as the most enjoyable games, ARC Raiders really stood out as a technical achievement, showcasing the full potential of Unreal Engine 5.
ARC Raiders as the New Benchmark for Unreal Engine Games?
Bucky pointed out that it’s become common to quickly dismiss new games. However, he thinks ARC Raiders could set a new standard for games made with Unreal Engine 5.
He added that he’s in awe of what Embark Studios achieved. To be fair, that’s a valid take.
Since Unreal Engine 5 launched, many players have complained about stuttering problems in games made with the engine.

Unlike many new games, ARC Raiders launched with good performance. Many players are impressed with Embark Studios for managing to create a visually impressive game that also runs smoothly.
Actually, ARC Raiders runs surprisingly well, even on the Steam Deck, although you’ll need to adjust a few settings to get it working.

SteamdeckHQ says you’ll need to use either Proton GE or the Proton 10 Beta within the game’s settings on Steam.
To get the best experience on the handheld, the game starts with graphics settings set to Low. You can improve the visuals by changing the upscaling method from TAUU to FSR3 and setting it to Balanced.
This way, you can still enjoy decent visuals without sacrificing performance.
Generally, the game runs very smoothly, and Bucky’s claim that ARC Raiders could set a new standard for games built with Unreal Engine 5 seems likely.
