Love Island USA’s Jeremiah Brown Addresses Cierra Ortega’s Exit

Jeremiah Brown is addressing Cierra Ortega’s sudden exit from Love Island USA.

Following Iain Stirling’s announcement during the July 6 episode of the Peacock series that Cierra had to depart due to a “personal issue,” Jeremiah expressed his opinions regarding the reappearance of alleged social media posts where Cierra reportedly used a derogatory term for Asian individuals.

The individual stated during a TikTok Live session on July 7, “I disapprove of any form of racial slurs. To me, racial matters are strange and unsettling. I’ve always encountered such issues throughout my life. In my opinion, racial behavior is never acceptable.

Later, he posted multiple videos featuring him reconnecting with former Islanders Austin Shepard, Charlie Georgiou, Hannah Fields, and Belle-A Walker. Among them, Belle-A Walker has also voiced her thoughts on the issue concerning Cierra.

In her Instagram stories on July 6th, Belle-A expressed gratitude towards the producers of Love Island USA for taking a firm stance against any form of racism. She was saddened when she saw a fellow islander express racist views on their social media platforms.

She went on to say, “I preferred to let them depart from the villa first, so we could discuss the matter honestly, offer a sincere apology, and pledge to grow from this experience. Only then could I decide what our future relationship might be like.

During the June 8 episode, the 22-year-old, who was the first one eliminated from the villa, shared insights about how her perspective on the events changed afterwards.

In my commitment to promoting positivity and respect, I realized that I could no longer continue following an individual whose actions were inconsistent with these values. A few days back, I chose to unfollow them due to their questionable posts. As a first-generation American, I have personally encountered the harsh reality of insensitive comments, especially those related to Asian hate, which are all too often disregarded and ignored.

Meanwhile, although Cierra, aged 25, hasn’t openly commented on the issue, her parents, who had previously mentioned she was still in Fiji, posted an appeal asking individuals to show kindness towards their daughter during “one of the toughest weeks” they have ever experienced in their lives.

In their Instagram post on July 6, they expressed, “We aren’t here to defend or disregard the issues at hand. We comprehend why people are frustrated, and acknowledge the importance of taking responsibility. However, the discussions happening online currently have escalated beyond just accountability.

They went on to say, ‘The harassment, the harsh words, and the assaults against her loved ones – her family, friends, and followers – are deeply saddening. Such behavior is unwarranted. No one should ever have to endure such hate, regardless of any errors they may have committed.’
