Following the success of Jujutsu Kaisen, the sequel series continues in Weekly Shonen Jump. Recent chapters are enriching the overall story, particularly by giving the villains more complex motivations and backstories. While the original series had memorable villains, it was sometimes criticized for not fully developing them. The sequel seems to be addressing this, offering a clearer and more focused main plot than the first Jujutsu Kaisen, which often felt unclear.
The story began with the Simurians, an alien race invading Earth, and left readers wondering why they came. Chapter 8 of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, titled “Dura Val Bobbidi Mechika, Part 2,” builds on the conflict on Maru and Cross’s planet, showing that the Simurians have a society divided by a strict class system that leads to discrimination. The chapter ultimately reveals that some Simurians came to Earth to escape this oppression and find freedom.
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Reveals Why the Simurians Came to Earth

After learning about the Simurians’ history over the past couple of chapters, I’ve realized they’re surprisingly similar to us humans when it comes to feelings. What really sets them apart, though, is how their society works – it’s not a democracy at all. Instead, it’s built on a very old system where the strongest individuals are in charge. I discovered there are two main groups among them: the Rumelians, which include characters like Maru and Cross, and another group called the Deskunte. It seems a long-standing disagreement between these two tribes, fueled by differences in religion and resources, eventually led to the Deskunte taking control and unfortunately, enslaving the Rumelians.
I’ve been following the story closely, and it’s become clear that things aren’t what they seemed. Maru and Cross’s teacher, Dura, wasn’t just safeguarding minerals; she was protecting a spaceship they used to get to Earth. What really surprised me was that even Dabura, who initially appeared to be a major antagonist on par with Sukuna, was actually trying to escape the Deskunte’s control and the exploitation of his abilities. It’s becoming apparent that none of the alien characters we’ve met are truly villains at all – they’re all just trying to survive.
This new information suggests that more Simurians from the planet Simura will likely come to Earth after the escapees, which could lead to a full-scale war. This means characters like Maru, Cross, and even Dabura – previously thought of as villains – might end up fighting with the heroes of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo against the Deskunte tribe. These recent chapters give a clearer idea of who the major villains in the Jujutsu Kaisen sequel will be, a contrast to the original series where Kenjaku seemed like the main threat until Sukuna appeared as a powerful, unpredictable force.
