Eva Mendes Slams Rumor She Moved to London With Ryan Gosling

Eva Mendes is not moving to a place beyond the Atlantic Ocean. 

Following rumors that she and her partner, Ryan Gosling, along with their daughters Esmeralda, 11, and Amada, 9, had relocated from the U.S. to England, the actress clarified that the reports were false.

Eva responded to a Daily Mail article on Instagram, writing, “I love my time in London, but I’m excited to return home and celebrate the Dodgers’ World Series win!”

The 51-year-old added, “Go Dodgers!!!”

In October, rumors started circulating that the couple had relocated to London. The Daily Mail reported they had bought a house in Hampstead, North London, and enrolled their daughters in school there.

Although reports that Eva is moving out of Los Angeles are false, she has openly discussed her choice to step away from Hollywood and filmmaking.

In an interview with The Times last October, she confessed that acting wasn’t a true passion for her. She wasn’t trying to be modest, but she didn’t consider herself a particularly strong actress, though she acknowledged having some good performances when working alongside talented colleagues.

The actress, known for her role in Ghost Rider, shared that her Cuban-American background sometimes led to her being cast in stereotypical roles. People often didn’t see her as capable of playing more complex characters.

She remembered being told she didn’t fit certain roles because of her ethnicity. “They would just say ‘she’s too ethnic for this,’ or ‘too ethnic for that,'” she explained. “It happened constantly, and it was really frustrating.”

And overall, Eva found that the lifestyle in Hollywood wasn’t what worked best for her.

She explained that, given her personality, she believes she would have struggled with unhealthy habits no matter where she was. She always had – and still has – a strong desire to experience everything life has to offer, and she used to relentlessly pursue every possibility, constantly searching for something new.

Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if she decided to act again! She seems really open to it, especially if she could work with Ryan Gosling once more. They actually met on the set of The Place Beyond The Pines back in 2012, so there’s a clear connection there, and I think that would definitely make her consider it.

Eva excitedly shared that she’d really love to be with him, explaining that he brings out a side of her she’s never experienced with anyone else.

Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes began their relationship after appearing as a couple in the 2012 movie A Place Beyond the Pines.

Three years after the film came out, Ryan shared with Hello magazine that he’s confident he’s with the right person. When asked what he loved most about his partner, he simply replied, “She’s Eva Mendes.”

As he put it, “There’s nothing else I’m looking for.”

For Ryan, life with Eva and their daughters Esmeralda and Amada is “heaven.”

He described his life as blissful, comparing it to walking through a beautiful flower field daily. In a 2016 interview on Good Morning America, he said he felt surrounded by wonderful people – ‘angels’ – and that they brought light to difficult times.

When Ryan Gosling won a Golden Globe in 2017 for La La Land, he dedicated the award to Eva Mendes and her late brother, Juan Carlos Méndez Jr. In his speech, he explained that while he was enjoying making the film, Eva was raising their daughter, pregnant with their second child, and supporting her brother as he bravely fought cancer.

Ryan continued, “If she hadn’t taken on so much to allow me to be here, someone else would definitely be standing here today. So, thank you, darling.”

She explained to Women’s Health in 2019 that falling in love with him was the reason she wanted to be a mother – not to have children of her own, but to help raise his. She emphasized that this desire was uniquely connected to him.

In 2019, Eva playfully described life with Ryan as parents of two young daughters to Access, saying it was a mix of “fun, beauty, and complete craziness.”

She admitted it was challenging. “At the end of the day, after the kids are in bed, Ryan and I just look at each other and feel relieved that we made it through okay.”

In May 2020, Eva explained to a fan on Instagram that she and Ryan prefer to keep their family life private. She shared that she doesn’t discuss Ryan’s parenting because she values keeping that aspect of their lives personal.

I’m happy to share what I feel comfortable with, but I’d prefer to keep my partner and children from being overly involved. I hope that makes sense – it’s just my honest opinion.

Likewise, Ryan didn’t really have baby on the brain until Eva came along. 

Ryan Gosling said in a 2023 interview with GQ that he hadn’t considered having children before meeting Eva Mendes. However, once he did, he knew he only wanted to start a family with her.

Ryan shared that while filming The Place Beyond the Pines, he felt a genuine connection with his costars, to the point where he wished their on-screen family dynamic was real. He described realizing he’d be incredibly fortunate to have that kind of life.

When it comes to parenting, Ryan also admittedly looks to his longtime love.

I really rely on Eva,” he shared with GQ in 2023. “She always has a clear sense of what matters, and just seems to know instinctively. So whenever I’m overthinking things, I ask for her opinion.

Looking back on his life before meeting Eva, the actor from The Notebook explained, “I was searching for someone like her, really.”

He added, “But it all makes sense now.”

After the hit movie Barbie, Eva publicly expressed her support for Ryan, praising his performance. In an Instagram post from January 2024, she acknowledged the criticism he faced when he first accepted the role, writing, “So proud of my man.”

Even with all the criticism and negative attention, he developed a truly unique, funny, and deeply moving character that has become famous, and he ultimately received an Oscar nomination for it.

Eva said working with Ryan Gosling on The Place Beyond the Pines was a transformative experience. During an interview on Today in March 2024, she described his acting process as unlike anything she’d ever witnessed.

“The way he works, his commitment to his craft, how he wants to make everything as best as it can be,” the Girl in Progress star shared, “and that means making his costars as best as they can be.” 

But for Ryan, Eva is the one doling out the acting lessons.

He told Extra in May 2024 that she’s the best acting coach he’s ever worked with, and that her help is invaluable.
