Battlefield: REDSEC mixes classic battle royale elements with some fresh ideas. It lets players choose classes, which opens up interesting strategic options, and features powerful vehicles that are bound to frustrate opponents.
This guide offers a wide range of helpful tips and advice to help you succeed in Battlefield: REDSEC.
Class Selection
The Engineer is a top pick, particularly for players who often play alone after their team is defeated. They can open safes using their Repair Tool, and keep vehicles in good working order. When it comes to taking out vehicles, the Engineer is better than other classes, thanks to their missile launchers which can target weak spots for extra damage.
As a player, I’ve found that mastering the Recon role is super important in REDSEC. It’s right up there with other roles because knowing what’s around you can save you from getting taken out early! The Recon Drone is a lifesaver – I use it all the time to get a heads-up when enemies are approaching my location, or to scout ahead when I’m moving to a new spot. It really gives you that extra edge!
Accept Missions
Missions are key to success in REDSEC matches, offering powerful weapons and equipment. When you hear the signal that new missions are available, quickly check them to see which ones you want to complete. You can earn great rewards like advanced weapons and even call in air or artillery strikes.
Missions have a time limit in each match, so it’s important to complete them quickly. The timer seems to depend on how many players are still in the game – when around 50 players leave, the Missions become unavailable. If you’re fast, you might be able to finish up to four Missions per match, and the available Missions change regularly.
In REDSEC, the best reward you can get is likely the gold Superior-tier Vehicle Keycard. This is because the final stages of the game often come down to battles between heavily armored teams.
Boats
Okay, so here’s a tip I’ve found really useful. If the safe zone allows, try using boats to move around the edges of the map, especially west and south. Seriously, most people are so focused on land they barely notice you zipping by on the water. Yeah, you’re a bit exposed, but if you keep a good speed up, it’s manageable. Now, this isn’t always a great move – the circle could shrink anywhere, and it won’t help with most missions. Plus, it only really works if your whole squad is already well-equipped, you know, with good loot.
Tanks
With the addition of powerful vehicles in REDSEC, you’ll run into tanks and armored carriers frequently, especially as the safe zone shrinks. Having your own vehicle will give you a significant advantage. Finding a tank relies mostly on luck – you need to discover a Vehicle Keycard in a supply crate. Keep an eye out, as other players might drop the Keycards they find.
Another way to get the gold Superior-tier Vehicle Keycard is by checking your available Missions. While no single mission always offers it, players have had the most luck finding it as a reward in Decryption missions.
Successfully completing the initial objective is just the first step. You’ll face danger both when picking up the Keycard – which everyone can try to grab – and when you reach the Vehicle Trailer to get your tank. The Trailer is a bit tricky to open; the Keycard only works on the back right panel, exactly where the icon shows.
Then comes a tense wait for the back ramp to lower and the doors to open, allowing you to enter. It takes around 25 seconds for the doors to open enough for you to get inside. During this time, a loud alarm will sound, alerting nearby enemies that a vehicle is being unlocked. The best strategy is to move away from the Trailer and find cover. Figure out how long it will take to reach the space between the ramps, and then sprint towards it as soon as you’re sure it’s safe. Quickly board the Trailer and claim your tank.
You’re still at risk! Enemy players can call in airstrikes or artillery on your current location. To avoid damage, either pretend to leave the Trailer to bait them into firing while you stay hidden, or quickly drive out and then reverse away in the opposite direction.
Tanks are currently quite vulnerable to skilled players. They can be taken out not only by powerful attacks like Strikes, but also by just two well-aimed RPG shots, and other methods designed to destroy vehicles. Having an Engineer on your team – or several using their Repair Tool – can be crucial for keeping your tanks in the fight.
Thermite Sabotage
Many players of REDSEC don’t realize how useful the standard thermite charge is. It’s designed to help players destroy enemy vehicles when they don’t have airstrikes or missiles available.
Using Thermite Sabotage means getting very close to the tank. You have to attach the thermite directly to its armor to slowly damage both the tank and the people inside, and it’s a risky operation that could be fatal.
Those are some general tips to help you win matches in Battlefield: REDSEC.
