Wallace & Gromit return in cheeky Barbour Christmas advert

Barbour, the famous clothing company, has partnered with Aardman again to create their yearly Christmas advertisement.

Barbour has teamed up with Wallace & Gromit for their latest collection, moving away from their previous collaborations with Shaun the Sheep. For the past two years, Barbour had been creating festive items featuring Shaun the Sheep, but they’ve now chosen to work with the internationally famous Wallace & Gromit instead.

Okay, so the new ad is just adorable. It drops you right into Wallace & Gromit’s house, and you see Gromit, bless his heart, doing his best to wrap a present for Wallace. It’s a really sweet, simple scene, and honestly, it just warmed my heart. It’s pure Gromit trying his best, and it’s instantly charming.

I’m always amazed by Wallace’s inventions, and his latest, the ‘Gift-o-matic’, is just brilliant! It completely takes the hassle out of Christmas – it gives gifts, wraps them beautifully, even pulls crackers and unwraps presents for you. Honestly, it’s like having a little helper to make the season perfect!

As usual, Wallace’s invention is a bit quirky, and this time it causes a hilarious mishap. When he uses his machine to open a gift from Gromit, it does a little too much – it ends up removing all his clothes!

Wallace and Gromit have a heartwarming exchange: they both independently buy each other the exact same Barbour Winterberry tartan scarf, and immediately put them on! It’s a particularly thoughtful gift for Wallace, considering he recently lost all his clothes.

Barbour is continuing its celebration of tartan patterns following the success of its recent Autumn/Winter 2025 campaign, ‘Ode to Ayrshire’.

South Shields consistently updates its designs with fresh colors each season, and this year’s Winterberry shade is a wonderful gift idea – it was even a hit with Wallace & Gromit!

Barbour is expanding its partnership with Oxfam to offer more pre-owned jackets. These ‘Re-loved’ jackets will be available both in Barbour stores and through online auctions.

Paul Wilkinson, Deputy Managing Director at Barbour, said they’re delighted to be working with Aardman again this year. He explained that both brands are known for their history, classic appeal, quality, and attention to detail.

This year’s film adds a cheerful touch to Barbour’s classic and authentic tartans, featuring the timeless scarf and a newly designed Winterberry Tartan wrapping Wallace’s clever Gift-o-matic. Though inspired by British traditions, the film’s message of kindness and connection is universal and captures the spirit of the holiday season.

As a huge Wallace & Gromit fan, I loved hearing Nick Park explain why they’re partnering with Barbour for Christmas. He said Wallace and Gromit have always been about that cozy, quirky, and very British feeling, and that just makes so much sense with what Barbour represents – it’s a perfect match for their Christmas campaign!

The Gift-o-matic is a typical Wallace creation: wonderfully clever, but not without its quirks! We’re excited to share this fun, holiday story with you this year, hoping its heart, creativity, and humor will bring plenty of Christmas cheer.
