Fans recently got a closer look at a new logo for the Sith, which first appeared in the 2019 film The Rise of Skywalker. While the rebel symbol is the most iconic logo in the Star Wars universe, the Sith have always had their own emblems. This new design, featured in a recent book, is the latest iteration of the Sith’s visual identity.
A new Star Wars book, Star Wars: The Secrets of the Sith: The Chronicles of Emperor Palpatine, is coming out on February 3, 2026. Star Wars recently showed off the book’s cover, which features the Sith Eternal logo first seen in The Rise of Skywalker on the planet Exegol.

The book’s cover features the title, a dark backdrop, and the central Sith Eternal logo. This logo has intricate details that make it look slightly weathered. This is the first time a detailed, high-definition version of the Sith Eternal symbol has been officially shown since its creation.

The logo has appeared in other Star Wars books, but usually as a drawing meant to illustrate what it looks like. The version on the cover of The Secrets of the Sith seems like something you’d actually see in a Star Wars film or series. Other times, the symbol in reference books looks like it was specifically made for those books—too perfect and clearly computer-generated, rather than appearing realistic.
The new book, Secrets of the Sith: The Chronicles of Emperor Palpatine, is essentially a revised and updated edition of an earlier book titled The Secrets of the Sith.

The Sith Eternal’s symbol, featured on the cover, is designed like a dagger inside a circle. Official sources explain this dagger represents the concealed weapon used by an assassin.

The Sith Eternal logo isn’t the original symbol for the Sith in Star Wars stories. Before Palpatine’s demise and the fall of the traditional Sith, their logo was different. It featured a central circle with twelve points created by three extensions pointing outwards in four directions.

The logos of the Sith and the Sith Eternal look very different, suggesting a fundamental difference between the two groups. The original Sith existed for thousands of years as a general order of dark side users, but the Sith Eternal were specifically dedicated to Palpatine’s quest for immortality and maintaining his rule.
The film The Rise of Skywalker showed audiences more of the visual style and symbols used by the Sith Eternal.

When Ben Solo first arrived on Exegol and entered the Sith Citadel, he found himself facing enormous statues of past Sith Lords.

Exegol held cloning technology that Palpatine’s followers used to create bodies for him, both directly and as replacements. Evidence of this included a cloned body of Snoke found in one of the cloning tubes, confirming Palpatine had always been controlling him.
Will the Sith Eternal Come Back to Star Wars?
Star Wars fans can expect to see the Sith return at some point. The upcoming Disney+ animated series, Maul: Shadow Lord, set to release in 2026, will likely reference or even feature Sith characters, even though Maul is no longer one of them.
The Sith Eternal appeared to end with Palpatine’s death on Exegol, defeated by Rey. Although she’s his granddaughter, it’s very unlikely she’ll continue his evil legacy.
Throughout its run, The Mandalorian delved into cloning and the mysterious Midichlorians. This suggested the show was building towards the events of the sequel trilogy, potentially revealing how the Empire’s remaining forces – who would become the Sith Eternal – managed to recreate Palpatine’s body.
Though the original The Mandalorian series has finished, Din Djarin and Grogu’s adventures will go on in a new movie, The Mandalorian & Grogu, scheduled for release in May 2026. It’s currently unknown if the storyline about cloning will be explored in the movie or any future installments. However, if it is, we might see references to the Sith Eternal or its followers, particularly if they are still acting on orders from Palpatine.
