When it comes to superhero teams in the Marvel Universe, the Avengers consistently prove they’re the best. While teams like the Fantastic Four and the X-Men have achieved incredible feats – exploring the universe and battling powerful foes – none have the same impact as Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. The Avengers have consistently defended the planet from its most dangerous threats. Their success comes from a combination of skill, intelligence, and the extraordinary superpowers of its members. While not the only factor, those powers certainly give them an edge.
The Avengers are famous for their incredible powers, but some are much more powerful – and unpredictable – than others. While many Avengers have abilities that are consistent and understandable, a few seem to constantly grow or are just overwhelmingly strong. These seven powers are so powerful they’re almost unfair, making the Avengers the most formidable team in the Marvel Universe.
7) Wolverine’s Healing Factor

While Wolverine is best known as an X-Man, he’s also been a member of teams like the Avengers and the Fantastic Four. His healing ability, which might not seem overwhelming at first, has become incredibly powerful over the years. He’s endured countless brutal fights and now survives injuries that would have been fatal in the past. Essentially, Wolverine is nearly unstoppable. Even complete destruction isn’t enough to keep him down – he can recover from being burned, drowned, or even losing limbs. Body parts will grow back, and he can even be reassembled from pieces. In the past, a serious injury like being gutted would require a long recovery. Now, he can simply push his insides back in and heal almost instantly. While not a god, his healing factor makes him practically unkillable.
6) Hulk’s Gamma Powers

The Hulk is Marvel’s strongest monster, and he’s become even more powerful over time. As the embodiment of a supreme cosmic power, his strength has virtually no limit, and it’s fueled by his rage. He’s virtually immortal – whenever he’s defeated, he always comes back. Since discovering the origin of his abilities, Hulk hasn’t been a consistent member of the Avengers, but he frequently clashes with them, often winning easily. However, his immense power has become a problem; he’s now so strong that it’s hard to create compelling stories for him, making the character feel a bit stale.
5) Sersi’s Matter Manipulation Powers

Sersi, despite being part of a less-successful Avengers team, is incredibly powerful. As an Eternal – a near-perfect being created by cosmic entities called the Celestials – she possesses typical Eternal abilities like super strength, the ability to withstand damage, flight, and control over cosmic energy. However, her true strength lies in her ability to manipulate matter. She can transform anything – living or non-living – into almost anything else she imagines. This means she can easily defeat opponents by turning them into something harmless, like concrete or even a field of flowers, making her a much more dangerous opponent than people realize.
4) Captain Universe’s Enigma Force

Jonathan Hickman’s run on Avengers was incredible, challenging the team with a threat to the entire multiverse. The heroes of that era were exceptionally powerful, with Captain Universe standing out as the strongest. While many characters have used the name ‘Captain Universe’ by channeling the Enigma Force for cosmic abilities, this version was unique. The Enigma Force had essentially become a living being, inhabiting the body of a woman named Tamara who was in a coma. This gave her limitless power – she could do anything she imagined. However, being a godlike being in a human body was disorienting; Tamara’s personality was unstable, and the Enigma Force itself struggled with having a physical form and all the complexities that came with it.
3) Mjolnir

Thor, the God of Thunder, is incredibly powerful, but he’s significantly weaker without his hammer, Mjolnir. Mjolnir boosts his existing abilities, making him stronger and more resilient, and allows him to create much larger and more intense storms. It also gives him precise control over those storms and enables him to fly. Beyond that, Mjolnir can open doorways to any location imaginable, and once even allowed travel through time (though this ability has been lost and regained). The hammer itself also possesses immense energy, allowing Thor to unleash devastating blasts and even destroy planets. Many fans underestimate just how powerful Mjolnir truly is.
2) The Vision’s Density Control

Ultron built the Vision to defeat the Avengers, and equipped him with incredible abilities. The Vision possesses superhuman strength, can fly, and project energy beams. But his most unique power is his ability to control his own density. He can become intangible, allowing him to pass through solid objects, or incredibly dense – up to 90 tons – making him virtually immovable and indestructible. This density control also lets him disrupt electronics and even exert some influence over people he phases through. Essentially, the Vision can only be harmed if he allows it, making him a nearly unstoppable force.
1) Scarlet Witch’s Reality-Altering Powers

Scarlet Witch originally impressed fans with her ability to manipulate probability, but that was just a glimpse of her true potential. It turned out she could actually alter reality itself, making her incredibly powerful. While she can reshape the world with an external energy source, as seen in the House of M storyline, she’s nearly godlike even without it, able to accomplish almost anything. Over the years, her powers have steadily increased, suggesting she might one day be capable of even more amazing feats.
