Golden Bachelor Season 2 Finale: Find Out If Mel Owens Got Engaged

There’s a new golden couple joining Bachelor Nation.

In the season finale of The Golden Bachelor on November 12th, Mel Owens was preparing to choose between Cindy Cullers and Peg Munson. However, Cindy ultimately ended things with him because she felt he wasn’t ready to fully commit to a relationship, leaving the final decision out of his hands.

I really wanted him to tell me he was falling for me and ask me to be patient. But he kept avoiding it, saying he needed two years to figure things out. Honestly, if you meet someone you connect with, you shouldn’t wait – that’s the time to build a relationship.

In the end, Mel fell for Peg, who is 62, and proposed… but it wasn’t a marriage proposal. He gave her a different kind of ring.

As he placed a diamond ring on her finger, the 66-year-old man said, ‘This shows my love for you, and that we can take the time to build a future together.’

Peg agreed they should move forward as partners, not as engaged couple, saying, “I think we both feel the same way about this.”

As Peg told him, “I met my match and I know that you definitely are the man that I can trust.”

Although Mel said he wasn’t ready for marriage, he privately admitted he was committed to Peg and their future, saying he was ready for that next step.

Even though Mel and Cindy eventually separated, it was a difficult decision for him, considering his close connections with both Cindy and Peg.

In a recent interview with Glamour magazine, Mel explained that Cindy seemed much more approachable throughout the season. He contrasted this with Peg, who he described as reserved and hard to get to know. Mel praised Cindy as warm and intelligent, and while he appreciated Peg’s energetic personality, he noted she wasn’t initially very affectionate.

Mel’s search for love wasn’t without its challenges. Even before filming began, he sparked some discussion when he revealed a particular dating requirement he’d given producers while they were selecting potential matches.

He remembered telling a staff member on The Bachelor during a June podcast interview that he was looking for a specific age range. He explained, ‘We’re not doing The Silver Bachelor here, this is The Golden Bachelor,’ meaning he wanted contestants who were at least 60 years old.

Okay, so Mel definitely walked back those comments he made, but honestly, the initial impact was already felt. It was a really brave move when he addressed it head-on during the season premiere, taking full responsibility in front of all 23 contestants. It showed a lot of character, even though it was a tough spot to be in.

He apologized to the women during a toast on the show, saying he was thoughtless and unfair. He explained how much being the Golden Bachelor meant to him and asked for a chance to regain their trust. He finished by saying that age doesn’t define someone’s spirit.

Status: Engaged

Spencer Conley, who made a good impression on Jenn Tran with his friendly personality on The Bachelorette, found a connection on season 10 of Bachelor in Paradise. He shared a post with Jess Edwards (who previously tried to win over Joey Graziadei on The Bachelor) hinting that they were falling for each other—a typical way of saying things are getting serious without saying “I love you” just yet. In an August 2025 Instagram post, Spencer playfully declared he’d “already won.”

Jess also expressed her excitement online, writing that she was feeling happy about Spencer. The couple chose their relationship over a $250,000 prize, and were thrilled to get engaged and receive a $190,000 check as a surprise. Jess shared that everything they’d experienced together led them to this special moment. She’s now planning to move to Dallas to be with Spencer, as announced by the show.

Status: Dating

Bailey Taylor Brown declared on Instagram in August 2025 that her date with Jeremy Simon was the best first date she’d ever had, following their time on season 10 of Paradise. But could it also be their last? Bailey, who originally competed for Grant Ellis’s affection, and Jeremy, who almost won over Jenn on The Bachelorette, managed to navigate a particularly difficult disagreement when Bailey discovered Jeremy had hesitated about sending Susie Evans home.

Despite the drama, their connection continued to grow in Costa Rica. Although they didn’t make it to the end of Bachelor in Paradise, they decided to continue dating after the show. The show later revealed that they had already met each other’s families and were planning to live in the same city.

Status: Dating

It looks like things are still going strong between Paradise season 10 contestants Andrew Spencer (who competed for Katie Thurston’s heart) and Alexe Godin (from Grant’s season). Just six days after Andrew called Alexe “my love” on Instagram in August 2025, she returned the sentiment, calling him “my darling” in her own post.

Although they chose love instead of the $250,000 prize on the BiP finale, they still each went home with $125,000.

“This is incredible,” Alexe exclaimed. “I’m leaving with money, but more importantly, with love.” The show then revealed that Alexe and Andrew are moving to Chicago together.

Status: Dating

Kat and Dale faced a difficult situation during the Bachelor in Paradise finale when Sean McLaughlin claimed Kat had been secretly communicating with an ex-boyfriend through letters and a laptop. Kat, however, denied contacting him while on the show. She explained that she and her ex had still been in contact before coming on the show, as she hadn’t expected to find someone new.

Although Kat and Dale didn’t make it to the final rose ceremony, their relationship continued to grow after the show. Viewers learned that the couple from Zach Shallcross’ and Clare Crawley’s seasons traveled the U.S. together and were planning a future together, including moving closer to each other.

Dale wrote under Kat’s August 2025 Instagram post that things were challenging at times, but they got through it together, and he wouldn’t trade their experiences for anything.

Status: Just friends—for now

After leaving season 10 of Bachelor in Paradise, Gary Levingston and Leslie Fhima (who was a finalist on Golden Bachelor) seemed to have a promising future together, even sharing a video about creating new memories. However, Leslie, who once inspired musician Prince, isn’t certain she wants a romantic relationship with Gary.

She shared that she and Gary talk constantly. Appearing on Bachelor Happy Hour in August 2025, she described him as one of her closest friends, someone she can always rely on for support. She explained that he helps calm her down when she’s stressed, and they consistently support each other.

Even though they live almost 2,000 miles apart – she’s in Minnesota and he’s in California – she’s still optimistic. She explained that, for her, the most important part of any relationship, especially a romantic one, is building a strong friendship first. She wants to be with someone who is also her best friend as they get older.

Status: Just friends

Kim Buike, a frontrunner on Golden Bachelorette, connected with Faith Martin, who received the first impression rose on Gerry Turner’s season. Despite being eliminated during season 10 of Paradise, the pair continued dating, with Faith sharing a video on Instagram in August 2025 showing Kim enjoying a date with her in Washington.

Ultimately, they decided they were better suited as friends.

“We still talk two or three times a week,” Faith revealed in a September 2025 Instagram video. “He lives about five and a half hours away, but we’re not in love. We never actually fell in love, but we did have a strong connection on the show.”

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve seen it happen time and time again – the whirlwind romance of reality TV doesn’t always translate to lasting love. Take Grant, for example. He started The Bachelor with twenty-five women vying for his attention, and Juliana Pasquarosa ultimately won his final rose. Sadly, their relationship didn’t last, and they broke up just under three months after their proposal aired. It’s a reminder that finding ‘the one’ is rarely as simple as it looks on TV!

I’m absolutely heartbroken, but I saw Grant’s post on Instagram today… he and Juliana broke up. He said it was really hard to write, and that they both tried so hard to make things work, really poured everything into their relationship. But after talking it over, they realized they just weren’t meant to be together forever. It’s just… devastating. I always thought they were perfect for each other!

Joan Vassos, who was a contestant on The Golden Bachelor and later became the first Golden Bachelorette, is engaged! After appearing on Gerry Turner’s season, she found love and accepted a proposal from Chock Chapple on The Golden Bachelorette.

As a huge fan, I was so moved when Joan said on The Golden Bachelorette finale, right before Chock’s proposal in Bora Bora, that we really are never too old for love. It was just beautiful! She told him she’d waited for this perfect moment to say she loved him and wanted to spend the rest of her life with him – waking up with him every morning and sharing a goodnight kiss each night. Honestly, it gave me chills!

During the finale of The Bachelorette season 21, it seemed like Jenn Tran, who previously appeared on The Bachelor, had found love with her final choice, Devin Strader. However, Jenn shared during the After the Final Rose episode in September 2024 that Devin became distant as soon as filming ended.

I seriously can’t even with him! One minute he was telling me he was so in love, making all these huge promises, and the next? He acted like it never even happened! He completely denied everything, like all that love he swore he felt for me just vanished. It’s like he just… erased it. I was telling Jesse Palmer all about it, and honestly, it’s just devastating. All those promises… gone.

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe this! Devin just posted a THIRTEEN-minute video on Instagram explaining everything! He said he’s taking responsibility, which is good, but then he went into ALL the details about their breakup – apparently, it all went down during a FIFTEEN-minute phone call! I’ve watched it like five times already, trying to piece everything together. It’s SO much drama, and I’m completely obsessed with understanding what happened!

Jenn said he ended their relationship over the phone in August, but he insists she pressed him for answers while he was trying to tell her in person.

He said he’d been wanting to tell her face-to-face, but she pushed him to reveal it sooner. “I felt like I didn’t have a choice,” he explained.

Jenn then met Sasha Farber while competing on Dancing With the Stars, and the two became partners both on and off the dance floor. They continued dancing together even after being eliminated from the show in October 2024, but ultimately ended their relationship in 2025.

Greg Grippo, who appeared on Katie Thurston’s season of The Bachelorette, began dating Victoria Fuller from Bachelor in Paradise in November 2022. They announced their relationship on the show’s season eight finale, but Greg shared in April 2024 that they had broken up.

Before revealing their relationship on the season eight finale of Bachelor in Paradise, Victoria Fuller and Greg Grippo had already broken things off with their respective partners. Victoria had ended her engagement with fellow cast member Johnny DePhillipo.

Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist got engaged in November 2023 on the finale of the first season of The Golden Bachelor. They then married in a televised ceremony in January 2024. They are now divorced.

However, three months after their nuptials, the couple announced that they were breaking up.

Gerry and Theresa have been having open and honest talks about their relationship and living arrangements. In an appearance on Good Morning America in April 2024, Gerry announced that they’ve jointly decided to get a divorce.

They reached a divorce settlement in June 2024, according to court records reviewed by TopMob News.

Oh my gosh, you guys, I nearly fainted when I heard! Gerry actually said on Bachelor Happy Hour in April 2025 that he’s seeing someone! And get this – he said it’s going well! I’m so thrilled for him, I really am! It’s just… amazing to finally hear some good news!

Tennis star Joey has found love! After dating 32 women, he proposed to project manager Kelsey Anderson in March 2024. He told Kelsey, “I can’t wait another minute to tell you that I love you,” before asking her to marry him. Joey explained that Kelsey’s positive energy made him incredibly happy, a feeling he’d never experienced before. He shared that meeting her showed him how wonderful his life could be.

John Henry Spurlock, who competed for Charity Lawson’s affection, and Kat Izzo, from Zach Shallcross’ season, found a connection on season nine of Bachelor in Paradise, though it took a while to develop. John Henry proposed with a Neil Lane diamond, telling Kat she was everything he was looking for. However, shortly after the show’s finale, they announced their breakup. In a joint statement on Instagram, they explained that their differing career goals led them to realize they weren’t a long-term match, but they were thankful for the support they received from family, friends, and fans.

Eliza Isichei, who previously dated Clayton Echard, is engaged! Despite initial worries, she said yes to a proposal from Aaron Bryant on the beach. She was especially touched that Aaron asked her mother for her blessing, admitting she was overwhelmed with emotion.

However, the couple later announced their split. They revealed in December 2023 that while their engagement didn’t work out, they ended things on good terms, with positivity and respect for each other. The news came after the show acknowledged they had faced challenges following their time in Mexico.

Kylee Russell and Aven Jones got engaged on Bachelor in Paradise, despite Kylee previously wishing Aven had proposed with more fanfare when he was on The Bachelorette. She set aside her dream engagement gown, deciding to prioritize making their relationship work. However, just two days after the show’s finale aired in December 2023, Kylee revealed on social media that they had broken up due to Aven’s infidelity. Aven later apologized, admitting he had made serious mistakes and hurt Kylee.

Charity Lawson is thrilled with how her season of The Bachelorette ended! She hinted to TopMob News that things were going well, but that was an understatement considering the finale. Dotun Olubeko, an integrative medicine specialist, proposed to Charity, a child and family therapist, getting down on one knee and calling their love “perfect.” He asked her to make their “fairytale” a reality.

While they’re planning a wedding—possibly in 2025 or 2026—Charity will first be hitting the dance floor on Dancing With the Stars. Dotun surprised her with the news on The Bachelorette: After the Final Rose, saying he knew how much she loved to dance and was excited for her to have this opportunity.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m always happy to see a good love story unfold! Zach Shallcross definitely found his happily ever after. After navigating some ups and downs, especially during the Fantasy Suites, he proposed to Kaity Biggar in March 2023. It was such a sweet moment – he told her she was his world and that his love for her was beyond anything he’d ever known. And things continued to blossom! By July 2023, they were taking a big step as a couple, officially becoming roommates. It’s wonderful to see them building a life together!

Kaity and her partner got married on May 23, 2025, in a small, intimate chapel ceremony. They had originally planned a bigger wedding, but Kaity realized it wasn’t necessary. As she shared on the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast in June 2025, she wanted to focus on what truly mattered: their love and connection, and she felt she was getting too caught up in minor details.

However, one thing really impressed her. The aunt who signed her up to compete for Zach’s affection discovered the charming chapel near Austin where they had their wedding. Kaity explained, “It was exactly what we wanted.”

Danielle Maltby and Michael Allio, who seemed like a promising couple after meeting on Bachelor in Paradise, have broken up. Despite a strong connection – Danielle had previously experienced loss, and Michael is a single father raising his young son James – they couldn’t make things work. About a year after Danielle moved to Ohio to be with Michael, he confirmed their split on a podcast. He explained that while they cared for each other, they weren’t compatible in the long run, and he was grieving the loss of both the relationship and the future they had imagined together.

Brandon Jones proposed to Serene Russell on season seven of Paradise, declaring his love would last “until the end of time.” However, their relationship didn’t last. Just five months after getting engaged on the show, the couple announced their split in May 2023. In a joint statement on Instagram, they explained that trying to work through their issues privately had been difficult due to the public attention. They shared that the breakup was painful, despite the love they shared, and asked for privacy and kindness.

Pilot Rachel and contractor Tino Franco ended their engagement after he kissed someone else while their season of the show was still airing. Tino later admitted on the podcast The Viall Files that he deeply regrets his actions. He said it was unfair to Rachel, something he’s still ashamed of, and that he wishes he could have handled the situation differently.

Susie Evans and Clayton Echard’s relationship, which began on the 2022 season of The Bachelor, had a complicated journey. After Susie initially turned Clayton down during the finale, they briefly reconnected off-camera, but ultimately broke up six months later. Susie explained in a blog post that while they shared happy times, she wasn’t truly thriving and felt disconnected from her best self, making the split necessary.

Susie then began dating Justin Glaze from Bachelor Nation, but they ended their relationship in August 2024.

Michelle, an elementary school teacher from Minnesota, accepted a proposal and a $200,000 check for a future home from Nayte Olukoya, a sales executive from Texas, after appearing on a reality show. However, the couple ultimately split six months after the show’s finale in December 2021, realizing they weren’t a good match. Nayte later admitted on the podcast The Viall Files that their relationship was filled with conflict and they didn’t see eye-to-eye, and that ending things over the phone was a mistake.

Michelle later found love with Jack Leius, and they became engaged in 2023. They married in Minnesota in June 2025.

Fans were excited about a future for Maurissa Gunn and Riley Christian, picturing them enjoying cozy Sunday mornings together. However, the couple from season seven of BIP only lasted a few months.

In a joint statement released in January 2022, Maurissa (who previously dated Peter Weber) and Riley (a contestant on Tayshia Adams’ season) announced their split. They explained that they had hoped for a different outcome, but both needed to focus on personal growth.

Status: Split

The first same-sex couple to meet on Bachelor in Paradise got engaged during season six, but they announced their breakup in 2019 on Halloween.

We’ve always cared deeply for each other, and making the best decision for both of us has always been our priority. With love and sadness, we’ve decided to take a break and focus on ourselves. We believe this is the right step for our individual growth and long-term happiness, even though it’s difficult.

Despite a breakup during season seven of Bachelor in Paradise, Noah Erb and Abigail Heringer realized they were meant to be together. The couple, who initially settled in San Diego, recently bought a house in Noah’s hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Abigail announced the exciting news on Instagram in July 2023, joking that they were entering their ‘Chip and Joanna Gaines era.’ Before the move, Noah proposed to Abigail in San Diego in August 2023, and they’re now planning their wedding!

Serena Pitt and Joe Amabile, who first gained attention on The Bachelor and Bachelor in Paradise, decided to have a quick civil ceremony at City Hall in New York City in October 2022. They were already engaged after leaving Paradise and were planning a larger wedding for September 2023. Serena, who now co-hosts the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast with Joe, shared the news with a video and jokingly said, “Who doesn’t want to get married twice!”

Kenny Braasch proposed to Mari Pepin with a Neil Lane diamond ring during the 2021 finale of Paradise, declaring his deep love for her and saying he couldn’t imagine life without her. Mari, who first appeared on The Bachelor and charmed Matt, relocated from Maryland to Kenny’s hometown of Chicago to begin planning their future together. Before their November 2023 wedding – a 65-guest ceremony held on a beach in Puerto Rico – the couple solidified their commitment with matching tattoos during a trip to the Bahamas in May 2023. Kenny had previously been eliminated from Paradise by Tayshia Adams in week five.

Status: Married

Becca Kufrin, who previously starred on The Bachelorette, and Thomas Jacobs, known from Katie Thurston’s season of The Bachelor, found love on season seven of Bachelor in Paradise in 2021. They had an on-again, off-again relationship during filming, but eventually got back together after the show ended.

In May 2022, they announced their engagement, revealing that Becca was the one who proposed. She told TopMob News she hoped their unconventional approach would encourage others to break traditions. Thomas returned the gesture by proposing to her in October of the same year. In September 2023, they welcomed their son, Benson, with Becca sharing on Instagram that words couldn’t express how much they loved him.

Just weeks after Benson’s birth, the couple had a surprise wedding ceremony on October 13th.

Status: Split

During the 2021 finale of The Bachelorette, Katie got engaged to Blake Moynes. They initially connected and expressed their feelings for each other on a memorable overnight date that included paintball, a relaxing soak in a cowboy tub, and a heartfelt conversation under the stars.

Blake proposed to Katie by getting down on one knee and telling her he wanted to support her dreams and be with her always. He said she deserved everything good in life.

Just three months after getting engaged, the couple announced they were breaking up. In similar statements, they shared that while they cherished their time together this past year, they realized they weren’t right for each other long-term and believed it was best to go their separate ways. She has since married comedian Jeff Arcuri.
