Steam Machine and Steam Frame Should Be More Readily Available at Launch, Says Valve

Wow, this week has been huge for Valve! They’ve announced a bunch of new hardware, and honestly, it’s pretty exciting – even if it’s not Half-Life 3 (we can still dream, right?). They’re coming out with the Steam Machine, which is like a super-powered Steam Deck – apparently six times faster! Plus, they’ve got the Steam Frame, a new VR setup that sounds even more immersive. And to top it all off, a new Steam Controller is coming with features like gyro aiming and really impressive HD rumble. I’m seriously considering upgrading my setup!

It’s great that this new technology works with existing devices like the Steam Deck. However, how will it be distributed? Everything is scheduled for release in early 2026, and Valve is managing the distribution again. Given the past difficulties getting a Steam Deck – particularly with shipping to different parts of the world – potential delays are a concern.

I was reading an interview with Kaci Aitchison Boye from Valve, and she was talking about how they’re really focused on improving how games get delivered on Steam. Apparently, they’re using the same system as the Steam Deck right now, but they want to keep making it even better – things like speeding up delivery times and adding support for more regions. It’s cool to see they’re actively working on making the whole experience smoother for us gamers.

We’ve been quietly improving things behind the scenes. For example, getting a Steam Deck has become a much smoother process for customers on the West Coast compared to a few years ago. We’ve also expanded our reach by adding support for regions like Australia last year.

“So we’re continually working on improving Steam distribution for hardware.”

It’s still uncertain how things will work in reality. Valve hasn’t revealed how much the hardware will cost, so we’ll share more information as soon as it’s available.
