Wicked: For Good Breaks Major Box Office Record 1 Week Before Premiere

As a movie fan, I was thrilled to see the box office finally pick up last weekend! Predator: Badlands had a fantastic opening, which was a great sign after a really slow October. And things are looking even brighter! November is usually a big month for movies, and this year feels especially promising. I’m so excited for Wicked: For Good to come out next week – I loved the first Wicked movie, and this is supposed to be the epic conclusion to the story. Everyone’s expecting it to be huge, and it’s already breaking pre-sale records, which is awesome!

According to Deadline, Wicked: For Good is breaking records on Fandango, selling more advance tickets than any other PG-rated movie ever, including live-action Beauty and the Beast, Wicked, and Frozen 2. It’s also currently the top-selling movie for 2025, surpassing pre-sales for films like Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, Superman, and Taylor Swift: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl.

Wicked: For Good Could Surpass Box Office Projections

Recent predictions suggested the movie Wicked: For Good might earn between $112 and $115 million in its first three days in theaters, which would have been a fantastic start. Now, it seems the film could actually perform even better. While it’s unclear if it will break the November opening weekend record currently held by Black Panther: Wakanda Forever ($181.3 million), Wicked: For Good is shaping up to be another big hit in 2025 that surpasses expectations. Strong ticket sales on Fandango show just how eagerly audiences are waiting for this widely appealing movie.

The number of tickets sold on Fandango is just a small part of the total expected sales for Wicked: For Good. While more people are pre-ordering tickets than ever before, many will still buy them closer to the release date. We also anticipate a good number of people purchasing tickets directly at the theater, particularly given the strong early reviews. If Wicked: For Good generates the same buzz as the first film – which was nominated for Best Picture – demand will likely be high for seeing it in theaters.

The upcoming movie Wicked: For Good is expected to dominate the box office next weekend. The films releasing this week, Now You See Me: Now You Don’t and The Running Man, aren’t predicted to perform strongly, and they’re aimed at different audiences anyway. While November offers a variety of movies, Wicked is likely to be the biggest hit – at least until Zootopia 2 comes out.

Considering its current momentum, Wicked: For Good is likely to become one of the year’s biggest box office hits. The original Wicked film earned $432.9 million in the US, and only two movies have reached $400 million domestically so far this year. This suggests Wicked: For Good could easily climb to the top. In fact, with early numbers already impressive, it might even exceed expectations for theater owners.
