A Cult Favorite Supernatural Comedy Is Finally Streaming Free (And We’re Still Upset It Only Had Two Seasons)

Television is known for its surprises, and even popular, well-loved shows sometimes get canceled quickly. That happened to a funny, supernatural comedy from the 2000s, a time many consider a peak for TV. Now, over 20 years after it originally aired for just two seasons, fans can finally watch the show again on a free streaming service.

You can now watch all episodes of the show Dead Like Me for free on Tubi. Created by Bryan Fuller, known for his work on many popular TV shows, this comedy-drama originally aired on Showtime from 2003 to 2004, but was cancelled after two seasons. As of November 1st, all 29 episodes, along with the sequel movie Dead Like Me: Life After Death, are available to stream. The series follows Georgia “George” Lass, an 18-year-old who becomes a grim reaper after a bizarre accident – being hit by a falling toilet seat.

Dead Like Me Is a Cult Favorite That Was Unfairly Canceled

Despite being a unique and engaging show, Dead Like Me was canceled after just two seasons due to conflicts behind the scenes and disagreements about its direction, leaving fans disappointed. It perfectly captured the spirit of early 2000s television, which embraced unusual, specialized shows and a growing interest in supernatural and fantasy themes.

I absolutely loved this show! It really stood out from everything else at the time because it wasn’t afraid to be different. It took this really dark idea – death – and made it surprisingly approachable. It did this through a quirky sense of humor, a touch of the supernatural, and by focusing on the characters. What I found so clever about Dead Like Me was how it treated the afterlife – not as some grand, mysterious place, but as just… everyday life, complete with rent and laundry! Each episode dealt with death and grief in a unique and often funny way, focusing on a different person and their, let’s say, unusual demise. But beyond those standalone stories, there was this really sweet, ongoing story about George adjusting to her new life, and I just found the whole thing incredibly charming.

This charming and heartfelt comedy-drama was popular when it first aired and has since gained a dedicated following. It’s great news that it’s now available to stream for free on Tubi! Critics generally love the show, as evidenced by its 84% score on Rotten Tomatoes, and Season 2 was especially well-received with a perfect 100% rating.

Other TV Shows Now on Tubi

If you’re looking for something new to watch, Tubi has added a bunch of TV shows this month. You can now stream titles like 61st Street, Growing Pains, the sci-fi series V, and both versions of Roots (from 1977 and 2016). They’ve also added Dead & Buried, The Hughleys, and Sullivan & Son to their free streaming library.
