Fantasy is a hugely popular TV genre, and it’s easy to see why. Viewers enjoy escaping to other worlds – whether those worlds are hidden within our own, set in the past or future, or feature entirely new societies and grand conflicts between good and evil.
Fantasy is incredibly popular right now, so new and returning series are being released constantly. With so many shows available on streaming services, it’s easier than ever to find your next fantasy binge-watch.
7) The Witcher
The fourth season of the fantasy drama The Witcher premiered on Netflix on October 30, 2025. The series takes place in a made-up world inspired by medieval legends, similar to the stories of King Arthur and his knights.
Geralt of Rivia and Princess Ciri were brought together by a chance encounter early in their story, thanks to a promise Geralt made. Once they met, Geralt took on the role of Ciri’s protector, and much of their journey involves defending her from dangerous enemies who want to exploit her magical abilities.
Season 4 of The Witcher is a standout. A key storyline follows Ciri as she’s protected by a band of bandits called the Rats, who help her evade those still hunting her – unaware they’ve been chasing a fake Ciri all along.
6) Dramaworld
Dramaworld is a funny and fantastical show centered around K-pop. It follows a teenage fan who suddenly finds herself inside her favorite K-pop drama, with the amazing ability to change the story and decide how things play out.
This fantasy story uses satire and is generally more cheerful than other stories in the genre. It’s particularly enjoyable for viewers who find the intense fandom surrounding K-pop a bit much. The show has three seasons, all of which you can stream on Netflix, and concluded in 2021.
5) The Wheel of Time
If you haven’t started watching The Wheel of Time yet, now is the perfect time! Season 3 has been streaming on Prime Video since March, and it’s a fantastic high-fantasy series. The story centers on a classic fight between good and evil, and follows Moiraine Damodred as she searches for the Dragon Reborn – a being with incredible power who could either save the world or destroy it.
The series boasts a captivating world filled with rich mythology and exciting, epic battles. Although it was unfortunately canceled after three seasons, it’s still a fantastic show to watch all the way through.
4) House of the Dragon
You can watch House of the Dragon, a Game of Thrones prequel, on Max and Hulu. The show is set 200 years before the original series and focuses on the history of the Targaryen family and the events that caused their downfall.
Similar to Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon features both intense action and well-developed characters. The show avoids simple good-versus-evil storylines, instead focusing on complex and morally ambiguous figures. With a third season anticipated in mid-2026, now is a great time to catch up on the first two seasons.
3) Gen V
Since Gen V is connected to the show The Boys, a good way to watch is to finish season 2 and 3 of The Boys before or after watching both seasons of Gen V. But you can also enjoy Gen V on its own without watching The Boys first if you prefer.
The show follows a group of college students with superpowers who start out focused on winning competitions to join their university’s top superhero squad. But as the story unfolds, they uncover unsettling truths about the school, forcing them to re-evaluate their values and goals. This complex moral landscape keeps you hooked, making it hard to stop watching as they navigate these challenges.
2) Percy Jackson and the Olympians
The series Percy Jackson and the Olympians is similar to Harry Potter, following a young boy who learns he’s a demigod. It blends fantasy with stories from Greek mythology—for example, Percy is tasked with secretly delivering wine to a camp counselor as punishment from Zeus—and is adapted from a set of novels.
Disney+’s Percy Jackson is a hit with families and has earned praise for faithfully adapting the original books. Many consider it one of the best fantasy series for kids and teens.
1) Arcane
Arcane is an animated fantasy series that follows two sisters caught in the conflict between the wealthy, seemingly perfect city of Piltover and the struggling, mistreated undercity of Zaun. Violet and Powder are both from Zaun and get involved in a rebellion after an accident during a heist. Throughout the show, Powder grapples with a reputation for bad luck and tries to discover her true identity.
This show tackles complex themes within a vibrant fantasy world, and uses flashbacks and flashforwards to showcase the decades-long conflict between Piltover and Zaun. With two seasons full of surprises, it’s perfect for a Netflix binge.
