On Wednesday mornings, we’re getting closer to the arrival of Season 2 for the series “Wednesday.” The initial trailer spotlights Wednesday Addams (played by Jenna Ortega), who is now working diligently to save her roommate Enid (Emma Myers) from a grim fate. Despite her transformation in attitude towards Enid and her fellow classmates, it’s clear that our monotone heroine hasn’t lost any of her sharpness. Netflix has announced an extensive promotional initiative for “Wednesday” Season 2 called the “Doom Tour,” which will involve the cast and creators showcasing the series at live events across the globe. The first set of new episodes debuts on August 6th, with Part 2 following on September 3rd.
The video shows Wednesday being greeted triumphantly upon returning to Nevermore Academy, but her moment of celebration is brief. A stream of dark tears suggests one of Wednesday’s psychic predictions, which appears to foreshadow Enid’s demise. In this vision, Enid angrily exclaims, “I died because of you!” Driven to prevent this vision from materializing, Wednesday finds herself inexplicably aided by her mother Morticia (played by Catherine Zeta-Jones).
She firmly vows that she won’t allow past events to be reenacted, her gaze fixed on a chilling illustration in a notebook. Her statement is cryptic, mirroring Wednesday’s words: ‘The Addams family’s secrets are their foundation. The quicker I uncover the truth, the sooner I can rescue Enid… or give it my all in the attempt.
Enthusiasts are currently brainstorming various theories about Wednesday’s portrayal of Enid’s demise. Given Morticia’s psychic abilities, it’s possible we might uncover a heartbreaking past for the Addams family matriarch. Her experiences at Nevermore Academy could factor into this narrative as well, though it’s unlikely to be the sole focus of the new season. Similar to how Wednesday Season 1 delved into weekly mysteries, this aspect may continue and play a role in the upcoming episodes.
Initially airing on Netflix in the year 2022, “Wednesday” became an enormous success, leading to great anticipation for a second season. However, some fans have grown impatient due to delays in its release. These setbacks were attributed to several reasons, such as Amazon’s acquisition of MGM and the 2023 Hollywood labor strikes, along with other factors. Additionally, there were rumors about scheduling clashes between “Wednesday” and “Scream 7,” but these were later refuted by Jenna Ortega in April. She clarified that she departed from “Scream 7” because her fellow actress, Melissa Barrera, was let go. Filming for the second season did not commence until May of 2024 and wrapped up by August of the same year.
On August 6th, Season 2 of Wednesday will be available on Netflix, with Part 2 following on September 3rd. If you haven’t seen it yet, the first season is currently streaming on Netflix.
