The Best Thriller of 2025 Just Left Peacock for a New Streaming Home

Movie fans have been captivated by thrilling and unpredictable films lately, and one of the best suspenseful movies from 2025 that you might have overlooked is now available on a new streaming service. It’s common for movies to move between streaming platforms, and this particular hidden gem was popular on Peacock before becoming available elsewhere.

The mystery thriller Drop, starring Meghann Fahy and directed by Christopher Landon (known for Happy Death Day), is now available on Prime Video after leaving Peacock. The Blumhouse-produced film follows a mother on her first date in years, which quickly turns frightening as she receives threatening messages from an unknown number. Drop was a hit when it premiered on Peacock in July, quickly becoming a top 10 title, and moved to Amazon’s streaming service on November 14th.

Drop Is the New Thriller You Need to See

Most people haven’t discovered the thrilling new movie Drop, which is a real shame considering the rave reviews. It’s been compared to a classic Hitchcock thriller, and director Landon skillfully uses visuals and editing to create intense suspense, even though the story takes place almost entirely in one location with the main character feeling trapped. The movie’s premise – a disastrous first date – is genuinely funny, and Drop cleverly incorporates current technology, like AirDrop and home security cameras, to deliver surprising twists and turns.

While not the greatest thriller ever made, this movie is remarkably well-done and features a captivating performance from Fahy that keeps it grounded. It’s a fast-paced and enjoyable popcorn thriller. Despite a limited release in theaters, the Blumhouse film was a financial success, earning almost $29 million worldwide – more than double its $11 million budget. Both critics and audiences loved it, and it currently holds an 83% ‘Fresh’ rating from critics and a 79% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

What’s New on Prime Video?

Prime Video added a lot of new movies and shows this month, starting with a big release on November 1st. Subscribers gained access to films like A Beautiful Mind, Bones and All, Good Will Hunting, Happy Gilmore, and Spider-Man: Homecoming. More titles are coming soon, including Mamma Mia! on November 15th, The Iron Claw on November 19th, and Mickey 17 on November 26th. Drop is also now available to stream.
