Escape from Tarkov – PS5 And Xbox Port ‘Under Consideration’ as Devs Tackle Controller Support Challenge

Okay, so Escape from Tarkov is officially out of beta, which is awesome! The developers, Battlestate Games, have big plans for the future – like, five years worth of updates and new content. They’re even thinking about adding more to the Scavs, which I’m totally hyped for. And get this – they’re looking into bringing the game to consoles too! That would be a game-changer.

In an interview with WCCF Tech, Nikita Buyanov confirmed they’re looking into bringing the game to consoles. He believes that if they move forward, they’ll fully support controllers, which presents a significant design challenge. The goal is to make the controls comfortable while still capturing all of Escape from Tarkov’s complex gameplay.

Currently, Tarkov doesn’t work with controllers on PC. It’s unclear if Battlestate Systems will add controller support for PC players, even if they develop it for consoles. Plus, the game is very demanding on computers – it recommends a massive 64 GB of RAM – so improving performance is a big challenge for the developers.

The newly released game Escape from Tarkov is off to a rocky start on Steam, currently holding a “Mostly Negative” rating. Of the 15,954 reviews so far, less than 30% of players recommend it. Major problems include difficulties logging in, and some players are upset that the game’s separate launcher adds to the time counted towards Steam’s refund window.
