Marvel Studios is adding a familiar face to its Disney+ shows. Josh Gad, known for voicing Olaf in the movie Frozen, is reportedly joining the cast of Wonder Man, Marvel’s new live-action series.
Josh Gad to join Marvel’s Wonder Man cast
According to D23 Magazine’s Winter 2025 issue, Josh Gad will join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the upcoming series Wonder Man. The show features Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams, an actor trying to make it in Hollywood who gets pulled into the superhero world, as reported by The Direct.
The magazine reports that Josh Gad will play a heightened version of himself – an extremely famous celebrity – in the series. His role will include singing, and he’s expected to bring a lot of humor to the show, with a preview at D23 hinting at some funny moments to come.
Wonder Man is a comedy that playfully mocks the worlds of entertainment and superheroes. Actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is intentionally playing a heightened, exaggerated version of himself, which fits the show’s comedic style. This marks his first role within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The series will have eight episodes, and while the length of each episode hasn’t been revealed, it’s been noted for its potentially longer runtime.
The casting of Josh Gad as a fictionalized version of himself hints that the Wonder Man series might include other celebrities playing exaggerated versions of themselves. While no other celebrity appearances have been confirmed, the show’s comedic and satirical nature makes it likely. Gad is famous for voicing Olaf in the Frozen movies, and sources suggest other actors connected to Disney could also make similar cameos.
It’s not yet known exactly how much screen time Gad will have in Wonder Man, but a recent preview suggests he’ll play a significant role, not just a quick appearance. Wonder Man will debut on Disney+ on January 27, 2026.
