This amazing artwork from Avengers: Doomsday hints at Doctor Doom’s plans for Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, revealing his pursuit of the Scarlet Witch and her abilities. Robert Downey Jr. secretly appeared as Doctor Doom in a post-credits scene from The Fantastic Four: First Steps, and he’s set for a much bigger part in both Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. He’s expected to try and prevent multiversal incursions, but he may need help to succeed.
In the comic story The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Doctor Doom encounters young Franklin Richards at the Baxter Building on Earth 828. While their connection remains a mystery, fan art from @charactersdiary offers a possible explanation: Doom may need Franklin’s immense power. The art speculates that Doom intends to bring Franklin to Earth 616 and use his abilities to revive the Scarlet Witch, who, even after her sacrifice, could be key to Doom’s schemes.
Why It Makes Sense For Scarlet Witch to Be With Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday

The Scarlet Witch and Doctor Doom have a complicated relationship in Marvel comics, and it would be great to see that explored in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Given Tony Stark’s past connection with Wanda Maximoff, it would create compelling drama if Doctor Doom, now appearing as Stark, were to interact with her. A storyline where Doom obtains Franklin Richards, brings him to the main MCU timeline, and uses cosmic power to revive Wanda also feels logical and well-structured.
Franklin Richards has already demonstrated the ability to use the Power Cosmic to bring back powerful heroes – he resurrected his mother, Sue Storm, the Invisible Woman. He could potentially do the same for Wanda Maximoff, but because she’s been gone for a while, it might affect her memories and who she is. This opens the door for Marvel Studios to adapt a storyline from the comics where Wanda loses her memory, ends up in Latveria, and marries Doctor Doom, before being reunited with her sons, Billy and Tommy, who are also heroes known as Wiccan and Speed.
The upcoming Avengers: Doomsday is predicted to feature Doctor Doom attempting to eliminate alternate realities and versions of worlds to prevent his own from being destroyed – a plot inspired by the Time Runs Out storyline from Marvel Comics, which came before the 2015 Secret Wars event. While Doom may not be powerful enough to destroy worlds on his own, the Scarlet Witch and Franklin Richards certainly are. Doom is likely assembling a formidable army to aid his plan, and the Scarlet Witch is expected to be a key member.
