Avengers: Doomsday Star Teases Duo We Didn’t Know We Needed (& More Character Interactions)

What makes the Avengers movies so enjoyable is watching the team reunite. After each big Marvel event, the heroes typically go their separate ways for a while, handling smaller threats before coming back together. It’s been over six years since the finale of Avengers: Endgame, and the team has been largely apart. Luckily, Marvel Studios is now working on a two-part story that will bring back many familiar heroes – even some who believed their days of crime-fighting were over.

The upcoming movie, Avengers: Doomsday, will bring together two Avengers teams – the group from Thunderbolts and Sam Wilson’s team – alongside the Fantastic Four (who first appeared in a 2025 film) and the X-Men. However, it won’t feature a brand new team of mutants. Instead, Doomsday will bring back many of the original X-Men film actors, including James Marsden, Patrick Stewart, and Ian McKellen. Kelsey Grammer, despite only appearing in one of the previous Fox films, is also returning and has hinted at who his character, Beast, will be interacting with.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Kelsey Grammer was asked which Marvel actor he was most looking forward to working with. He first said Chris Hemsworth, who plays Thor, but then paused and offered a different response.

Kelsey Grammer expressed his admiration for Robert Downey Jr., saying he’s a big fan. When asked about acting alongside Downey Jr., Grammer playfully avoided giving a direct answer. “It’s a bit of a scene together,” he said, “but I don’t want to reveal too much.”

Kelsey Grammer was also eager to praise Pedro Pascal, who plays the character Reed Richards, better known as Mister Fantastic.

I had a really good time with the new member of the Fantastic Four, Pedro. He’s a wonderful person, and I really enjoyed spending time with him. We even got to work together a little bit.

It makes perfect sense to have two of the smartest characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe work together, because Doctor Doom’s challenges won’t be solved with just action. Plus, a connection between Beast and Mister Fantastic might signal the arrival of another important Marvel team.

Avengers: Doomsday Might Need Its Own Version of the Illuminati

In Marvel Comics, when things get extremely dangerous, the leaders of various superhero groups unite to make difficult decisions. This group calls themselves the Illuminati, and they recently appeared in the movie Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness when Doctor Strange visited Earth-838. Unfortunately, the Scarlet Witch defeated them all, meaning new heroes will need to take charge in the future.

Although John Krasinski didn’t say exactly where his scenes with Pedro Pascal were filmed, his character, Mister Fantastic, along with Beast, Professor X, Namor, and Captain America, all seem like perfect candidates for a new version of the Illuminati – and they’re all expected to appear in the upcoming Doomsday film. It feels inevitable that these heroes will have to explore every possible solution when facing overwhelming challenges.

Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18, 2026.
