After about 13 years of development, Star Citizen still doesn’t have a release date, and there’s even a question of whether it will ever actually come out.
Star Citizen, developed by Roberts Space Industries, has now raised nearly $900 million through crowdfunding. While there’s no firm release date in sight, potential players can now try the game for free before deciding to purchase it.
Roberts Space Industries recently announced Intergalactic Aerospace Expo 2955, their yearly in-game event.

You can explore the Star Citizen universe without spending any money! A recent blog post announced a free trial event running from November 20th to December 3rd, 2025.
During the event, I’m going to be able to see all the most famous ships hanging out together in Orison, which is awesome since it’s on Crusader! It’s going to be a really cool sight.
You’ll find about 200 ships on display, and you can even step aboard and test drive any that interest you.
Star Citizen’s Free Fly Event Allows Everyone to Try the Game for Free
If you’re not following Star Citizen, the developers, Cloud Imperium Games, recently launched the alpha version 4.4.
The newest update includes several additions, most notably the Nyx star system. Players will also find new missions, weapons, and various other improvements.
If you’re new to this, don’t worry too much about the details. If you want to give it a try, simply go to Orison, check out the free ships, and test one out for yourself.

According to Roberts Space Industries, you can explore recent additions from the past year, plus access almost 200 ships without cost.
Since new ships in the game can be quite expensive – some costing more than a computer – it’s a good idea to try the game before spending any real money to see if it’s worth supporting.
Of course, this is also a good thing for existing players.
The event began on November 20th and runs until December 3rd. Ships will be rotated in and out, meaning they won’t all be available at the same time.

Cloud Imperium Games has made some important changes to the game to make it easier for newcomers to learn. They’ve added better in-game tutorials to guide players as they start, and a comprehensive new player guide with lots of helpful information.
So, if you’re wondering whether this game is worth playing, now is a great time to find out!
