Eva Longoria Shares Why She Waited to Become a Mom at Age 43

Eva Longoria’s life unfolded just as it was meant to. 

Eva Longoria, known for her role in Desperate Housewives, recently shared why she felt it was the perfect time to become a mother at age 43. She and her husband, José Bastón, are parents to 7-year-old son, Santiago.

I was so touched by what she shared in her recent interview with The Times. She explained that becoming a mother in her forties felt different – she felt like she had so much more wisdom and patience. It really resonated with me because she talked about how she’d spent so long focused on herself, and after forty years of that, she felt ready to shift her focus. She was truly grateful to have waited, saying she’d had the chance to travel and build her career before becoming a mom, and that made all the difference.

Santiago feels that her life is particularly wonderful right now. She explained, “Everything feels like a bonus, and I’m so happy to share it with my son.”

Eva, who turned 50 in March, admits she wishes she could have the energy of her younger self, but also actively makes choices to stay healthy and energetic so she can keep up with her busy life as a mom for as long as possible.

She acknowledged that everyone gets older, and that it’s something we can’t avoid, so we should accept it. Her goal is to stay active and healthy as she ages – to continue doing things like walking, hiking, and even carrying her 7-year-old son.
