inXile Entertainment’s upcoming RPG, Clockwork Revolution, is currently slated for release in 2026. This information comes from the LinkedIn profile of Nathan Long, a former senior writer at the studio, who lists the game among his past projects and indicates a 2026 release. Long contributed to the game as a senior writer, narrative designer, and lyricist.
InXile Entertainment revealed Clockwork Revolution back in June 2023, and while they’ve shared trailers and details about the RPG since then, they haven’t announced when it will be released. Originally planned for PC and Xbox Series X/S, it will likely also be available on PS5 due to Microsoft’s recent decisions.
In June, Chad Moore, the game director, and Brian Fargo, the studio founder, discussed how conversations would work in their upcoming RPG, Clockwork Revolution. They explained that the game will feature conversations with multiple characters, and that player choices and their resulting consequences will be central to the story.
We wanted to connect directly with dedicated RPG fans and give them a true sense of what our game offers,” explained Fargo. “We took our time, focused on meaningful conversations, and demonstrated how the game’s mechanics work. The scene featuring Alfie is key – it’s dramatic, but also establishes the game’s often harsh atmosphere. This game can be unforgiving, not only in battles, but also through the consequences of your decisions and how the world reacts to them. We’re aiming for a deeply immersive and responsive RPG experience – the kind we enjoy creating and our players appreciate.”
Moore also emphasized the game’s complex conversations. Many discussions involve multiple characters, and the person you choose to talk to will influence how the conversation unfolds, potentially leading to very different outcomes. For example, in the trailer, Morgan ignored warnings and spoke with Errol instead of Alfie, which unfortunately led to Errol’s death. If players make that same choice, Errol won’t appear in the rest of the game.
So, the conversations in this game really matter – your choices actually change things. And honestly, there are some really dark options you can pick. You even see a glimpse of that in the trailer. The developers made sure that if you go for those evil choices, they have real consequences. That’s important because it makes choosing the ‘good’ path feel meaningful. If the bad options didn’t matter, it wouldn’t feel like you were really playing the way you want to, you know?
Earlier this month, a trailer for Clockwork Revolution revealed the game’s unique clockpunk world and impressive visuals, including both the environments and characters. The trailer also gave players a first glimpse at how they’ll be able to create and customize their characters, and the types of choices they’ll make in conversations.
In June, inXile Entertainment marked its 20th anniversary with a video looking back at its history, including popular games like the Wasteland series and Torment: Tides of Numenera.
