Where Winds Meet expertly combines elements from beloved open-world RPGs and action games, all set within a wuxia universe. What truly sets it apart is its focus on freedom – it’s not just something you can do in the game, it’s the core idea that makes everything work together.
But there’s a downside. There are so many interesting things to do that it’s hard to focus on one goal. Something new and captivating always seems to appear, pulling your attention elsewhere. You’ll encounter all sorts of unexpected and sometimes strange experiences along the way, and having plenty of time to explore them is definitely a plus.
With a new year of games on the horizon, I’m starting to worry if I’ll have enough free time during the holidays to fully explore everything in Qinghe and Kaifeng. This game is so expansive, and I’m concerned that its reported 150-hour length might be more than I can handle.
1. It’s Just Getting Started

Players are discovering that Where Winds Meet offers far more than the initial 150 hours of gameplay suggested. Even shortly after its release, discussions are already focusing on future updates, particularly new areas to explore. It’s impressive how much content this high-quality free-to-play game still has in store.
It’s going to be tough balancing my time between games when new ones come out, and I definitely don’t want to miss out on anything good. But it’s reassuring to know that this game will probably still be enjoyable even if I take a break, as long as the best ways to play don’t change too much.
2. The PvP Element

With such a strong combat system and a world full of ways to customize your character, the game promises exciting player-versus-player battles, and Everstone Studios has delivered.
As a fan, I’m really excited about how much replayability this game has! You can team up with friends online, or even jump into huge 30v30 battles. There are also arenas and guilds focused on combat, which are perfect for showing off all the powerful gear you’ve earned. It feels like the developers have given us a fantastic world and are letting the community thrive and create their own experiences, which is awesome. It means we can keep making amazing memories for a long time to come without needing constant updates or intervention.
3. My Guild Deserves Better

I definitely plan to revisit Where Winds Meet whenever I have the chance, even if just to see what my guildmates are up to. I really can’t imagine how my first few hours playing would have gone if I hadn’t made joining a guild a priority.
Even though I hadn’t been playing for very long, my guild immediately made me feel welcome, and now I always make time to visit them in the game. I don’t think I’ll be stopping playing anytime soon, all thanks to the people who’ve made my experience so enjoyable. I’ve found a great community there, and we all agree that dual blades are the best way to fight!
4. The Side Content

The game has deep and intricate economic systems, but you’ll never run out of things to do. There’s a huge amount of optional content, ranging from short, funny scenes to unexpected events that can blossom into full-blown storylines. Many of these side quests feature challenging bosses and rewarding gear, making the game incredibly packed with content.
As a fellow gamer who enjoys collecting items and exploring big worlds, I think this game is incredibly demanding – even for dedicated players. I’m concerned that many players won’t discover everything it offers, and those hidden gems will be forgotten when the next big game comes out. However, the way some secrets are integrated into natural exploration is fantastic, and it might take multiple playthroughs to find them all.
5. Becoming the Ultimate Hero

Like many games of this type, this wuxia fantasy really needs my character to become a legendary martial artist – the best in China. That means finding and mastering every fighting style, inner energy technique, and special skill the game offers, so I can become an unbeatable warrior.
It’s a big job to track down everything related to this, given how much there is. But because each item or piece of art is so distinct, the effort could really pay off.
6. Stopping By For A Chat

I’m finding it harder and harder to resist talking to every character I meet in the game. You never know when you might actually connect with one – these characters are now powered by chatbots that let you have real conversations, and you could even uncover something new as a result.
Honestly, spending time with all the NPCs really adds up – there are so many! When you consider everything else you’re already trying to do in the game, it feels a little overwhelming. It makes me worry that it’ll be hard to truly enjoy everything at a relaxed pace, and that’s a bit disappointing.
7. Fully Exploring Qinghe and Kaifeng

I’ve been exploring the game, trying to find more of the map and gather equipment to test different character builds. But I feel like I’ve barely seen what the Qinghe and Kaifeng regions truly have to offer. Watching game coverage recently made me realize how much more there is to discover in both areas.
The game already offers a wealth of content like background stories, secrets to uncover, and rewards for exploring its two main areas. This makes me curious about how much more a future region could bring to the experience when it’s added.
8. Defeat Every Boss

As a fan of Soulslike games, I’ve been really impressed with the boss battles in Where Winds Meet. They’re so well-designed that I keep wanting to play more, hoping to find and defeat another challenging enemy.
The real challenge comes with the boss battles, which let you see if your character setup and skills are strong enough to win. Plus, some of these fights are hidden at the end of difficult secret quests, so I’m determined to finish the game, even if it takes a while. I just hope I stay motivated to keep playing when new games come out!
9. A Thriving Community
Games like Where Winds Meet often have fantastic communities where players share their experiences and discoveries. It’s the kind of game where learning something new from another player can send you off on a several-hour exploration of the area, even after you’ve already completed the main goal.
I anticipate continuing to play the game for a long time, occasionally focusing on new strategies and builds. The ability to easily change my character’s setup, and the constant stream of ideas from the community, makes it a game I’ll likely never get tired of.
10. The Slick Combat
I really enjoy a challenging combat system where fights feel powerful and unpredictable – you can be on top one moment and quickly find yourself struggling. Where Winds Meet delivers exactly that, and it’s perfectly suited to my aggressive playstyle, leading to some incredibly fun gaming sessions.
I’ll keep playing Where Winds Meet until a game with a better combat system comes along – and honestly, I don’t see that happening anytime soon.
11. Keeping Up With the Times

I have a feeling the upcoming updates, with new areas and content, will introduce tons of new items, weapons, and rewards, and maybe even new ways to play. I’d prefer to gather these things steadily over time instead of having to rush and grind for them.
I’ll keep returning to Where Winds Meet to collect daily rewards and gifts from the characters I’ve befriended. Regularly visiting my base in the Qinghe wilderness will help me stay prepared for future challenges and ensure I’m always ready for what comes next.
12. Events

I’m really enjoying Where Winds Meet, especially with events like the current Creator Incentive Event. Now that the first official season, Blades Out, has been announced, these events give me a great reason to keep playing regularly.
Honestly, if the new stuff they add with each event is as good as what’s already in the game, I think it’s going to be really exciting! I’m really hoping they keep up the quality – it’s what keeps me coming back for more.
13. A Roadmap of New Content

Players of Where Winds Meet will have plenty to do in the future, with many downloadable additions already in the works. Based on the game’s current size and ambition, upcoming content like Blade Out promises to be substantial. As the game becomes more successful, the developers may even explore even more innovative ideas.
This will definitely attract a lot of attention, and it might be a good reason to keep checking back, even if you have more and more games you want to play.
14. Online Coop
I really enjoy helping other players in games like this, especially when I know the areas or enemies well. The strong cooperative online system in Where Winds Meet makes teaming up easy and fun, and it’s a big reason why I keep coming back to the game.
I often got sidetracked chatting with other players, which meant I didn’t advance my own story as quickly. However, if I was having a lot of fun, was that time actually a waste?
15. Trying to Get It All

Finally, I’m someone who really likes to fully complete games – I want to experience everything before moving on. With a game as expansive as Where Winds Meet, I worry I’ll always feel like I’ve missed something, even after putting in a lot of effort. That’s part of what makes the game special, but it could be frustrating for players who aim to see absolutely everything it has to offer.
There’s a huge amount of stuff to collect and so much backstory to discover that I’m really determined to explore everything this game has to offer, and I’ll be working on it whenever I can.
So, that’s why I won’t be finishing Where Winds Meet. I hope it continues to bring joy to those who experience it.
