Wicked: For Good Box Office Rockets Up The Charts Over Thanksgiving, Hitting Enormous New Milestone

The movie Wicked: For Good has quickly become a success, reaching a major milestone within its first week in cinemas. Released on November 21st, the film tells the story of how the Wicked Witch of the West came to be, based on the second act of the popular Broadway musical.

The new movie Wicked: For Good had a hugely successful opening weekend, bringing in $147 million domestically and breaking the record for the biggest opening ever for a movie based on a Broadway musical. It surpassed the previous record of $112.5 million, which was set by the original Wicked film earlier this year.

According to Variety, Wicked: For Good earned $12.6 million at the box office on Thanksgiving Day. By the end of its first week in theaters, the film has now made a total of $207.2 million domestically, becoming only the ninth movie this year to reach that $200 million mark.

Just one week after its release, Wicked: For Good (2025) has become the highest-grossing film of the year so far, surpassing major releases like Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning ($197.4 million domestically), Thunderbolts ($190.3 million), F1 The Movie ($189.5 million), The Conjuring: Last Rites ($177.7 million), and Weapons ($151.5 million).
