The anime adaptation of My Hero Academia is coming to an end. With the final battle concluded, only the epilogue remains, and the last episode will air on December 13th. Fans don’t have much time left to enjoy Izuku Midoriya and Class 1-A’s journey. Fortunately, most viewers agree that Studio BONES has done an excellent job adapting the story, and the latest episodes are being hailed as some of the greatest in anime history.
The eighth episode of My Hero Academia’s final season has earned an incredibly high rating of 9.9 out of 10 from fans on IMDb. This puts Izuku’s climactic battle against Shigaraki and All For One among some of the most beloved anime episodes ever, like the finale of Vinland Saga, a standout episode of Code Geass, and key moments from Hunter x Hunter’s Chimera Ant Arc. It’s also comparable to critically acclaimed episodes from Western animated series such as Avatar: The Last Airbender, Bojack Horseman, Gravity Falls, and Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Even though the main fight is over, fans may still give the series’ concluding episodes high marks.
My Hero Academia: Going Out With a Bang
Even though the main story of My Hero Academia is finishing this year, the world of heroes created by Kohei Horikoshi isn’t over yet. The spin-off series, My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, which focuses on heroes who operate outside the law, will be back for a second season in 2026. This new season will explore both current events and stories from the past, including the origins of popular heroes like All Might, Eraserhead, Present Mic, and Midnight. Fans of Eraserhead (Aizawa) can especially look forward to learning about his tragic past as a student at UA, including the loss of a close friend.
The My Hero Academia anime is ending next month, but that doesn’t necessarily mean the story of Class 1-A is over. While avoiding spoilers, there’s a chance Deku’s journey could continue beyond the final episode. Studio BONES hasn’t announced any future movies, but the recent film, My Hero Academia: You’re Next, wasn’t presented as the end, suggesting more could be on the way. Although Horikoshi, the series creator, hasn’t said he plans to continue the story in manga form, his close involvement makes a new movie a possibility.
