Classic ’90s Horror FPS Coming to Consoles for the First Time with New Remaster

While we all enjoy new games, many of us have a special place in our hearts for older, retro titles. There’s something unbeatable about the memories tied to games we played growing up. For some, that might be Nintendo games like Yoshi’s Story. For others, it’s the first computer shooter that helped them develop fast reflexes. And a popular, but somewhat obscure, horror shooter from 1997 is getting a major revival, with an updated version and, for the first time ever, it will be available on more than just PCs.

Originally released on PC in 1997, Blood is a highly-regarded classic first-person shooter. A remastered version, Blood: Fresh Supply, came to Steam in 2019 and received very positive reviews. While the remaster was a solid update, it was only available on PC. Now, Nightdive Studios is preparing to release yet another remaster of Blood, and this time it will finally be available on consoles.

Blood: Refreshed Supply Remasters Original For Consoles, With New Missions and Features for All

You might be wondering why remake a game that’s already been remade once. Nightdive Studios has a good reason, though. Even though Blood: Fresh Supply was successful, they saw opportunities to make the game even better. This new remake of Blood delivers those improvements, and it’s finally bringing the classic 1997 shooter to consoles.

As a big fan of Blood, I’m so excited that Blood: Refreshed Supply is coming out on December 4th for pretty much every platform – PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and even Nintendo Switch! Plus, they’re already planning a version for the Switch 2 in 2026, which is awesome. But it’s not just about getting it on more consoles. This isn’t just another remake; it’s a complete overhaul! They’re actually replacing the older Fresh Supply version on platforms like Steam and GOG with Refreshed Supply. Apparently, there are some major upgrades that even those of us who already love Fresh Supply on PC are going to want to check out. It sounds like they’re really making this the definitive version of Blood!

Here’s everything new with this latest remaster:

  • Modern Performance: Up to 4K resolution and 120 FPS on PlayStation 4|5 and Xbox One and Series X|S
  • Fully Customizable Controls: Keyboard, mouse, and controller support tailored for modern play
  • Enhanced Modding Tools: Expanded mod support, including compatibility with existing community creations
  • Multiplayer Mayhem: Local split-screen and cross-platform online play for up to eight players across co-op, PvP “Bloodbath,” and 4v4 “Capture the Flag” modes
  • Classic Sound Options: Switch between CD and MIDI music for an authentic retro experience
  • Complete Content Collection: Includes the Plasma Pak and Cryptic Passage expansions
  • New Blood Awaits: Two new mission scenarios, Marrow (available at launch) and Death Wish (free post-launch), inject fresh carnage into the classic campaign

This isn’t just a visual update to Blood: Fresh Supply; it includes new missions and greatly improved mod support. The updated game will include previously released downloadable content, plus exciting new features. PC players won’t receive a free upgrade, but they can purchase the new version at a discounted price. Console gamers can now, for the first time, experience this classic, fast-paced shooter.

The new game, Blood: Refreshed Supply, will be available on December 4th for $29.99 on all platforms. Players who already own Blood: Fresh Supply on Steam or GOG will receive a discount.
