Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump is looking for new hit series to join One Piece as its most popular manga, now that titles like Jujutsu Kaisen and My Hero Academia have ended. While several new manga have shown promise, two have really emerged as potential successors. Kagurabachi, by Takeru Hokazono, began in 2023 and quickly gained international popularity. The other strong candidate to become a top title for Shonen Jump is Ichi the Witch, created by Osamu Nishi and Shiro Usazaki, which launched last year.
Both Ichi the Witch and Kagurabachi are quickly gaining popularity and could become major hits. Shueisha, the publisher, is clearly investing in these series and promoting them heavily. As part of this push, both manga will be featured on the cover of the January 2026 issue of Weekly Shonen Jump (available December 1, 2025). They’re also launching a collaborative event called the “Ichi or Bachi Challenge” right now.
Ichi the Witch and Kagurabachi Take the Lead in Shonen Jump’s First Issue of 2026
Get ready! The January 1st issue of Weekly Shonen Jump will feature both “Kagurabachi” and “Ichi the Witch” on the cover, with a special “Choose Your Side” campaign to celebrate! #IchiTheWitch

A new promotional campaign, roughly translating to “All In,” is aiming to boost two popular manga series. Reports indicate seven special ads will appear in Shibuya and Osaka to promote these titles. This suggests Weekly Shonen Jump is counting on these manga to drive the magazine forward into next year. The timing makes sense, as other popular series are finishing up or nearing their end, like Sakamoto Days. With Ichi the Witch and Kagurabachi continuing to develop compelling stories and consistently receiving positive feedback, Weekly Shonen Jump appears to be fully committed to these series for the year ahead.
This promotion suggests exciting things are coming for both manga series. It could be a sign that anime adaptations will be announced soon, and the current campaign is likely building excitement for those releases. While an anime for Ichi the Witch might not happen immediately, as the manga is relatively new, Kagurabachi is already well-established with over 100 chapters, making an anime announcement next year very probable. Overall, this news shows Shueisha is investing in Ichi the Witch and Kagurabachi as the next big titles for Shonen Jump, and both series have the potential to become hugely popular.
