The “life-intervention” game Haunted Room! Urami-chan is coming to PC via Steam in 2026, according to developer Minimum Box.
Here is an overview of the game, via Minimum Box:
About
Urami-chan is a unique game where you play as a ghost named Urami-chan. You can travel between the past and present of an apartment room, trying to prevent a tragedy and change the fate of the people who lived there. The game unfolds in almost real-time as you observe the residents and subtly influence their actions.
Story
On December 31, 1988, a resident named Ms. Noroi was murdered in her apartment. This led to concerns that the building might be torn down.
So, I’m playing this game, and there’s this ghost named Urami-chan who’s kinda used to dealing with spooky stuff. Apparently, these spirits called Jishibei just…vanish if they don’t have a home anymore. Luckily, another ghost, this helpful human spirit named Onebii, gave me an idea. I had to go back in time and try to fix things for this other spirit, Noroi, and change what was going to happen to him.
How to Play
It’s been one month since Ms. Noroi moved in when she is murdered. The player travels back in time to the day of the murder and has three hours to interact with Ms. Noroi before she returns home and goes to bed, hoping to change what happens.
What Urami-chan Can Do
- Call
- Telekinesis
The player goes back in time after three hours, and the return date adjusts if anything has been altered. They start by creating minor disturbances with telekinesis, slowly changing the past over time.
As you impress Ms. Noroi and gain experience, you’ll unlock more strange events. And if you manage to significantly alter the past, could you also change what’s to come for yourself?
