The survival horror game Dead Format will be released on PC through Steam on December 10th, according to publisher Oro Interactive and developer Katanalevy.
Here is an overview of the game, via its Steam page:
About
A lost brother. A cursed VHS format. A government cover-up.
Dead Format is a scary survival horror game where you explore different eras of film. You play as someone searching for their brother in 1990s Scotland, after he disappeared while investigating a strange type of VHS tape. You’ll have to enter the worlds within the tapes, battle enemies, and rescue your brother before time runs out.
Survive the Cursed Tapes
Your apartment serves as your home base. It’s where you can examine clues, rest, and get ready for what’s coming next. Use the TV and VHS tapes to unlock access to different worlds, each with a unique atmosphere. Explore these worlds to find clues and confront terrifying challenges inspired by classic films like those from the silent era, Italian thrillers, 80s horror, and found footage movies.
Key Features
- Scavenge and Solve – Search for supplies to stay alive and uncover key items to solve puzzles, unlocking your path forward.

Banned for a Reason
Okay, so I’ve been watching these tapes, and honestly, it’s a little creepy. It feels like some things should just stay hidden, you know? And now, I can’t shake the feeling that I’m being watched too. It’s unsettling, to say the least.
