Ahsoka Star Breaks Silence on Which Character Won’t Be Back for Season 2

As a huge fan, I’m so excited for Season 2 of the show! Disney+ is really becoming the place to watch this series, and they’re planning to release it around 2026. It’s awesome that Rosario Dawson is back as Ahsoka Tano – she’s fantastic! While the first season was a hit, earning an 85% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it sounds like we won’t be seeing everyone from the original cast return, which is a little disappointing, but I’m still counting down the days!

Before the second season of Ahsoka arrives, it’s been announced that Claudia Black won’t be returning as Mother Klothow. According to Bleeding Cool, Klothow was one of the witches from the planet Dathomir, residing in a different galaxy on Peridea. Black has shared the reason for her absence, which might come as a surprise to viewers of Ahsoka.

I want to be upfront about why I won’t be in Season 2. The show was renewed, and I was initially brought back as well, but Disney’s current financial structure couldn’t accommodate my salary needs. As a single mother with responsibilities in Los Angeles, and the season filming in London, it just wasn’t feasible. Unfortunately, I had to decline the offer, and I was really disappointed to do so.

Disney+ hasn’t announced when the second season of Ahsoka will be released. The first season premiered in August 2023 and finished in October. Season 2 started filming in early 2025 and has now completed production. Forbes recently reported a possible timeframe based on the production and release schedule of Season 1, which wrapped filming in October 2022 and premiered in August 2023.

What to Expect in Season 2

Created by Dave Filoni, Ahsoka takes place in the Star Wars universe alongside The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. The series centers on Ahsoka Tano (Dawson) and her former apprentice, Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo), along with characters from Star Wars Rebels. They’re on a mission to prevent the exiled Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) from returning and rebuilding the Empire against the New Republic. Ordered by Lucasfilm in January 2024, the story will see Ahsoka and Sabine embark on a quest connected to the Mortis gods and face the fallen Jedi, Baylan Skoll. Following the passing of Ray Stevenson, a new actor will take on his role in Season 2.

Season 2 will bring back familiar faces including Rosario Dawson, Mads Mikkelsen, Diana Silvers, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Eman Esfandi, Ivan Sakhno, and Hayden Christensen. We don’t yet know when Season 2 will be released. You can currently watch Season 1 of Ahsoka on Disney+.
