Since its release earlier this year, KPop Demon Hunters has been a huge hit on Netflix. Now, fans have a special treat – a free behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film! KPop Demon Hunters is a major success for both Netflix and Sony Pictures Animation, and it’s been a long journey – the project was first announced five years ago and has evolved quite a bit since then.
The team behind KPop Demon Hunters explored many ideas before finalizing the characters and story we see in the film. Now, fans can get a behind-the-scenes look at that creative process with the official art book, The Art of KPop Demon Hunters. It’s available online for free, showcasing the film’s development from its very first stages.
KPop Demon Hunters Releases Special Art Book for Free

The new art book, The Art of KPop Demon Hunters, is a collaboration between Nucleus and Netflix, offering over 140 pages of behind-the-scenes content. It features special illustrations, character designs, and other details about the film that fans will love. What’s special is that it’s available to read for free right now, even though the physical book won’t be released until next year. This release highlights the growing popularity of KPop Demon Hunters as a major franchise for Netflix.
Given the popularity of the first film, Netflix is already planning a sequel to KPop Demon Hunters. They’ve partnered with Sony Pictures Animation and have begun development with directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans. While a release is currently planned for 2029, that date isn’t set in stone and could change – it might arrive earlier, or be delayed further.
What’s Going on With the Sequel?
While fans may be disappointed that a sequel to KPop Demon Hunters won’t arrive until at least 2029, this art book offers insight into the reasons for the delay. The first film, though promising for future stories about HUNTR/X, was a lengthy and risky production. Sony and Netflix didn’t consider it a potential franchise until after its successful release.
Starting work on the next film right after finishing the first one sets the franchise up for a much stronger future. This approach means each movie can focus on being genuinely good, instead of just rushing out sequels to make more money. We can expect a lot more exciting content going forward, and little extras like this art book are a fun way to build excitement.
